      1. I am having a ground clearance issue especially when I have a pillion. It scrapes most of the speedbreakers if I don't really slow down the bike. Initially it was scraping all speedbreakers and found that the rear shocks were in the position of least travel, which I adjusted. But still the bottom keeps scraping on above average sized humps whenever I have a pillion. What could be the problem?

      2. I get a FE of 32 kmpl in normal riding and about 40 if I consciously ride it under 60 kmph. Is this figure fine?

      3. I am intending to change the rear tyre to 140/90/15 instead of the standard 130/90/15. How does this affect FE?

For your info, the bike has done 31k on the odo and has no modifications.

      Thanks
      1. Ground clearance is an issue being a smaller height + cruiser. You can't escape this at all when with pillion. Like somebody rightly pointed out in reply to your post - just try to understand and find out speed at which bottom does not scrape..

      2. FE is another problem with Avy - You will always get less than 40. The reason for this (as I understand bike mechanics) - it develops lot of torque from 0 to 7k rpm (at which it max outs) - also note that its detuned pulser engine developed for cruiser. In simple words, speed/pickup/acceleration that you get riding with 10kg weight, you will get the same when carrying 150kg weight being a torquey machine - you won't see this phenomenon in sports bikes (notice difference in acceleration on ascent and riding pulsor or R15 alone Vs with pillion rider).

      3. Not a expert so can't answer.

      4. Reaching speed beyond 80-100 : Believe me, if you can't reach beyond 80, there is definitely some problem with bike (carb, engine tuning etc.). The bike comfortably goes till 100-110 and can do these speeds all day even with pillion. Yes its important to note that this is not sports bike, so you will attain high speeds north of 80 only gradually - not like ktm duke which can touch 100 in 5-6 secs.

Let me know if you have more queries.

      Cheers,
      Prasad M

I guess the tyres have been kind to me. I changed my first set at around 48,000 kms and the second set is still going alright. I must had like two puntures in total in the last 6 years! I am no expert and all I really did was to ensure that the tyres had the right pressure (21 front, 25 rear) all the time.

Wow! That's like nothing, 2 times in six years! This is a very positive feedback
You might have been a careful rider too
As some of the other avenger-men here have advised to use a "slime fluid" which you push into the tube and it blocks the airflow in case of a puncture, have you ever used this product?

After a general service and changing front tyre to Mrf zapper fx-1 100/80-17 of Yamaha FZ... Now the bike struggles to reach 100kmphr and has got lots of shivering. When shown to service center they tweaked the air and fuel mixture of carburetor but doesn't show significant changes... What all should I check and tell service center guys... Upto 80km it's OK and fine...after that only problem starts... Please help

                  Price of 7100 - approx 780/-
                  Price of 5100- aprox 570/-
Well as you are quoting these price list for this engine oil and above all toy are suggesting me to use mineral only I think then I will stay with moto 4 gold 20w50 as this oil is a mineral oil. But as you must have read in my lady post I was asking about motul 20w50 engine oil which is itself a mineral oil right. Correct me if I am wrong.

Wow that is something which we don't see everyday. Just 2 puncture in 6 years. Good for you.
I also get a psi filled like front 28 back 32. Trust me the bike is really awasome. And I am using nitrogen.

Hi guys...any avvy owner from indore here?
                    I need one suggestion
I have 220 cruise brought it in nov 15.
                    She is 10500 km old
My bike was making weird clicking sound from clutch section and there was lot of vibration from the beginning. I noticed that sound when met bajaj avenger club and noticed sound of there bike... It was very clear.
Then i took my bike for service again (all free service done)
Bajaj serviceman checked the bike by opening clutch section and said that balancing gear is fine we have to check rocker arm and head assembly.
I denied them because i didn't think that that was the problem.
Then i managed to agree them to change the balancing gear ..
When they changed it my bike was smooth vibration was 70% gone
But the sound was not ok.
So i took the bike to our clubs mechanic
He opened clutch plate ..AND GUESS WHAT GUYS... One of the plate was fitted in opposite direction
Clutch plate didn't have any oil in it .it was running empty.
How company can put a clutch plate in backward direction?
I used motul 7100 oil with a lubricant so to reduce the sound of vibration
                    Now the sound is great.
                    My main problem is
Bikes acceleration is reduced after changing oil and balancing gear and correctly fitting clutch plate.
My bike can hardly go 120 kmph max
                    What would be the problem?

Upsizing the front tyre may affect the handling a lot. Was there any vibration before changing the tyre?

No I didn't have those vibrations that bad earlier and also mostly think it comes from engine

Engine may be feeling like stressed if it can't handle the traction of the front wheel. If you can, try to put the old tyre and test once again.
If you are sure that the engine is the main culprit then check the clutch plate condition. Worn out clutch plates may be the reason of the struggle.
