  • Re: Bajaj Avenger - All versions

    Hello everyone,

I am a new member and a new proud owner of Avenger 220 Cruise (Desert Gold).

I had always ridden Scooter starting from Super -> Chetak -> Legend -> Wonder Gear -> Honda Scoopy -> TVS Jupiter. Shifting from Scooter to a Motor Cycle was always a dream starting from College Days till the time I got my Job. But since car was always an option, I could never take a plunge to have my dream fulfilled. Moreover, what held me back from buying a new motor was my frequent onsites and that too long term.
Finally, I gifted myself Avenger 220 Cruise (Desert Gold) on my 35th Birthday, though one can say that it was an early bday gift but who cares, when you Feel Like God after owning and driving one.

I would like to thank team XBhp and it members contributing to the ownership blog. I have read all the 135 pages of it before reinforcing my decision to go with Cruise instead of Street.

Why I chose Cruise over Street.
    a) After riding scooters since long, I didn’t find the pleasure in riding Street.
    b) The sitting position and handle reach was optimal in Cruise.
    c) Was a little skeptical about city driving with Cruise originally but the test drive made me decide on Cruise.
    d) Bajaj doesn’t charge extra for the windshield on Cruise and comes as a standard fitment.

    Initial Week Feedback
    >Finding Neutral is a real challenge. But I think its more of a practice that will guide me on how to find Neutral faster. (Read in various posts and tried killing engine to find neutral faster)

    >Since the bike is new currently the gear change ratios are limited and I don’t want to rev it much. Maintaining top speed of 60-65 Kmph Max till my first service.

    >I have a doubt regarding the kill switch why it doesn’t spring back to On automatically? Is this a natural behavior of the kill switch in all other bikes (Bajaj or Non-Bajaj) as well?

    >Got 3-4 guys pointing it out that the headlights are ‘On’. Now I don’t know how to explain that I cannot turn off the light during day.

    > Where does the disc break lock goes when we are driving. ( is it in a bag or we get to put it some spare place in the bike?)

    > Need feedback on accessories shops in Delhi. I want to
    a) Footrest like enticer
    b) Widened pillion seat
    c) Dragon feet side stand.
    d) Dragon like chrome grills for all lamps. ( No Skulls)

I will keep on posting as I ride further and keep contributing to the forum.

      Hi All,

      Good day,

I am done with a trip from Bangalore to Coorg on my Avenger 150 street. This was a week after the second service. (Second service at 2080 km). The ride was approx 700 km to and from. After that the current km ran is 3500. Now I want to know I should change the oil immediately or should I wait for my next service which is at 5000 kms. Please suggest.

        • Bajaj Avenger issues

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I had a Honda Unicorn earlier and have now moved to a Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise. I just picked up the bike on Sunday and I am facing 2 challenges:

          1) The side view mirrors cannot be adjusted at all. Is it a standard issue as I could hardly view the traffic in the mirror which is a dangerous situation to be in.
          2) The bigger problem is the gearing. Everytime in a traffic situation or at a signal, if I try to move the gear from 1st or 2nd gear to Neutral gear, I am unable to do so. It moves from 1st to 2nd and vice versa. It causes massive strain in my left palm as I need to continously press the clutch in that situation. However if I just depress the clutch and the bike stops in gear( no engine running condition), then I am able to move the bike into Neutral. Is this a standard issue, and if years how are others managing this.

Request your urgent assistance on this as this is causing unnecessary stress on me instead of causing happiness of my brand new acquisition.

The mirrors can be adjusted, do put in a little effort to position it the way you need and about the neutral... Ummm when you're in 2nd gear do gently tap the lever, very gentle press downward and it will come to neutral... Or incase you still have problems don't hold the clutch use the kill switch man... Kill the engine while your in 1st gear itself

I don't own an avenger but one of my cousin does, hope i helped you
            And cheer 🍻 riding

I just purchased my Avenger street 220 four days back. Already done 250 kms. While purchasing motorcycle i had very bad experience with dealer and cant trust him for servicing my bike.

Is there is something special which needs to be done for first servicing which can only be done in authorized dealership? or can i get first servicing done from my regular mechanic also. I know getting it done from outside mechanic will void the warranty but i simply cannot trust that dealer.

              Please advice.

              hi
              congrats for your Avenger.

                  Thanks Goldy,

I am also in search of good engine oil. I think motul don't have 20w50 mineral oil available here. They 20w50 semi synthetic and synthetic oil though.
Is shell advance a good oil? AX5 is a mineral oil right? I found this on amazon.
Any other brand you will recommend?

Motul 5100 is a fully synthetic oil i believe. As i am in running period dont want to use semi-synthetic or synthetic oil. I am not sure if Motul have Motul 3000 20w50 in India. I will go either with Shell, Castrol or ELF.

I am not sure about the place you mentioned. The place with picture of my avenger is Taked. Its famous for its temple (Jatayu Tirth) on Ghoti-Shirdi Highway. Beautiful Place .

                      • Fuel Lock for Avenger 220 Cruise that covers the petrol pipe from the knob to the inlet

                        Hello Dear Riders..

I am looking for a fuel lock for my Avenger 220 Cruise. Can anyone suggest a good fuel lock which not only locks the knob but also covers the petrol pipe?

My petrol pipe was recently cut and petrol was stolen. So while the conventional fuel lock may lock the knob, i am looking for a covering over the small petrol pipe that is attached between the fuel knob (on the side) to the petrol inlet point.

Do PM me in case you find this relevant and can help me with this!!

                        Thanks,
                        LS

Bajaj used to sell motorcyles with either Eurogrip's or MRF's at the time of selection you can choose which bike you'd like to buy based on availability. My P220F is white only because the black variant in stock werent equipped with MRF's.
