  • Soft compound rear tyre

Can anyone please help with some pointers as to where to get the soft compound rear tyre like Pirelli M66 for my Avy, in Pune.
It would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance

    • hey guys, I have been a owner of the avenger since 2010 sept and am in love with it. The bike is perfect for long distances and has a unique feel to it! I did a Leh trip on it this sept and was even more impressed with the bikes' ability to perform in the likes of Rothang La and all. .

Now that the dream ride is over, I am looking to mod the bike to better its comforts.

      Questions

      1. Where can I get something like this (floor board) in India?

      2. A headlight cap similar - http://cruiserfx.com/images/Product/...lue-Day-sm.JPG

      Thanks for the responses.

        • I guess the emergence of new pulsars, possibly with better engines means a new avenger with more power and torque by next year !

Yes that's the reason even i'm thinking whether to go for it or not. Don't want to regret later. I really liked this bike until now, when i don't see much of them around(why)

It lacks few things like Tachometer, disc brakes, auto choke and many more things, but really appreciate bajaj getting this cruiser into the indian market.
We will see new breed of pulsars coming into market, so will it result in evolution of avengers too?

Is it uncommon because it is unique bike for unique people?

Guys help me here... How is avy 220 as "My first motorbike" ?

              • one reason is RE has cornered a large part of the market on brand value alone. there are after all just 2 cruiser type bikes in India, people just buy sporty bikes and street fighters.

one huge adv is the commonality with pulsar innards. I am oscillating between t'bird and avy.

if a version of 21-22 bhp comes out I will almost definitely go for it.

Not sure of any major benefit of auto-choke.

I want to know how is Avy 220 (Or bajaj bikes in general) in terms of quality? Is it stable at high speeds and does it vibrate?

                    Thanks

Depends on what you are looking for in your your "first motorbike".
I was talking about rear brakes as well, because some owners are not happy with braking. And it is not only about the benefit but also about the technology. When we have the technology why stay with the old stuff. Avy deserves classic look but it shouldnt lack technology in that terms. This is just my view, don't know how far it holds true.

And "My first motorbyke" meant my first geared bike. Not for the looks but power and performance. I have been riding Honda Dio for long time, so will it be a problem if i jump so soon to higher cc bikes in geared section?

                      Thanks

                      • Guys,
Two question! probably n00b one, but still.
                        1. I have heard friends talk abt Avi "skidding" wvwn though it has broader back wheel. Is it true? If it is, How bad is it?
                        2. How bad is it for pillion riders? I mean do they get bounced up really high in the air (Basically back breaking types)!!! everytime we hit a pot hole/bump/hump/bad roads etc?
Please let me know. i have a RE TBTS booked, but still some time for it arrive. However, i am not a "Mechanic" so i am having second thoughts on RE. RE Brotherhood, Sorry if its offensive.

PS: I did a test drive of Avi, after great difficulty i got 2mins drive on a customer bike with the guy sitting behind directing me what to do and what not to do
                        Nothing conclusive, hence these questions.

                        Thanks,
                        BB/Ash

                        • For those looking for help on the avy, I have the 220 for about 1.5 years now and I am extremely happy with the bike. The braking is a bit of a hurdle, but if you apply the brake correctly, it will stop where you want it to without any skid issues.

I have done about 17,000 kms till date and that includes a Leh/Ladakh trip and the bike has been good to me. It is perfect for straight line cruising at 70-90 kmph and the seat is a throne but anything beyond that, the engine noise will be high as well as vibration. I have done a top speed of 120+ on the bike, but its not really stable at those speeds and definitely impossible to "cruise" in those speeds.

The pillion seat is a bit uncomfortable in long rides as its thin and in short rides, it can do family planning for the pillion on potholes

If you are the kind of person who loves long cruises on the highways and doing long distances alone, this is the bike for you. If you are looking for cornering, top speed record setting, instant acceleration from signal to signal...this might not be your choice. Depends on your riding style if you will love this bike.

                            • Guys,

Need your help. I am getting an Avenger Sep 11 registered at 70K. The bike has done 5700 km until now. Is this a good price? There is only a single dent on the tank but a minor one.

Also, what are the prices for:
                              1. Fuel gauge (As I suspect its dead on this bike)
                              2. Odo and Speedo meter (Just in case)
                              3. How much oil it takes as part of regular servicing and how much is the cost

A jump to 220 is not that much of a jump.
Higher cc should not be a problem.
