Whoops......Didn't come across this thread and posted a new one.....
      Well, I own an avenger 180...06 model, I have modded it a bit, K&N filters...Performance exhaust.............Stickering...LOL
Overall I am Happy with the performance of the bike...
Happy coz it runs quite faster than the stock avenger when given the whip, And If ridden under sane frame of mind.....Gives 40 kmpl..
Ride rash fool......And make Darwin proud.....!!

Not much happening on this thread. Is there some other thread where the Avenger 200 owners are having discussions on their motorcycles/ problems they face? If so, could someone kindly link me to that thread? Thanks.
I don't race, I don't perform stunts, I don't cut across lanes and/ or cut other vehicles, I love to wear my helmet and follow traffic rules/ laws and I prefer safety over surprise... If that is boring and/ or sissy as per you, so be it.

well i've got my avenger since aug 2006... n its been a darling thru all these days... it's never given any serious problems.. just a few minor problems which i believe are common to all bikes... i've taken it on just three long trips till now.. once dehradun, then to musoorie via rishikesh n once to fatehpur sikri... i just wish if bajaj could have made it a bit more powerful.. u knw.. to get the real feel of a cruiser

            Avenger ownership experience

            Hi,

I have been using a silver coloured avenger with 180 cc engine for the last three years. Its a comfortable bike and returns an average of 38-40 Kmpl in day to day traffic. Unlike the comments i got when i purchased the bike, it is very easy to drive in crowded traffic except for taking U-turn!!

The back brake is not good enough for a bike of this bulk and low end torque is found wanting. But the gear shift has been a dream so far and on open roads its a very comfy, value for money cruiser. The rear shocks are not good enough esp when you have a pillion rider (who will no wonder curse you). The maintenance cost is also surprisingly low and the Bajaj probiking showroom in Kochi / Cochin where i am based out at the moment have been very customer friendly. Overall a good ownership experience. I am waiting for the Pulsar 200 FI to be launched so that i can graduate back to a sports bike.

My friend is planning to buy the Avenger 200. Please give me feedback on the following:
                  1. Ride quality for the pillion
                  2. Chain maintenance
                  3. Oil leakages
                  4. Most importantly silencer&other chrome parts rusting.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean to say that the pillion seat is not comfy for bulky pillions?
Also I have come up with a new question-my friend test drove the bike&says that when he lightly applied the front brake while turning, the bike skidded very badly&he almost fell. Btw he was in 2nd gear only, speed around 15kmph.
Is this true? Owners please comment on the stability of the bike.

                          RIDING COMFORTRIDING POSTURE
The riding posture is extremely comfortable, though can seem awkward initially. The foot rest is perfectly positioned for a cruiser and you can forget about sore knee joints after long rides.

                          BRAKING
The brakes are pretty impressive if used judiciously. I was driving across the narrow mountain hugging roads in Bhutan, with a blind curve after every 10 secs and the brakes performed really well.

                          FUEL EFFICIENCY
I generally get an average of 40 kmpl in the city. Even in the mountains I got a steady 32-35!

                          Thanks,

                              I own a Avy 200 model November 2007.

Its a great cruiser. I have some back problems with it but are resolved now with the modified seat.

excellent in highways, in fact it would be more appropriate to say that it is built for highways. No Indian bike can match the touring pleasures of Avenger. I frequently do 250-400 kms single day rides on Avenger and I love these trips.

Only drawback is its brakes and riding with heavy pillion in city traffic.

Please note that it has no problems in city traffic if you are riding solo.

                              Happy cruising..
