Default KTM again stamps authority on Dakar rally

KTM once again had a brilliant race at Dakar 2013 by taking the top five positions.

Cyril Despres won his fifth Dakar title by taking the win in the 2013 season. At the beginning of the rally he had been tipped for the win as his toughest competitor had been ruled out due to injury.

This year both factory backed Yamaha and Husqvarna had strong runs and have a good shot of challenging for titles in the near future. The return of HRC to the Dakar rally has also been very positive for the competition and for spectators as well.

Cyril Despres, 2013 Dakar winner -

ďI went for it, with all the surprises a Dakar can throw at you, Little navigational mistakes, perhaps fewer than the others, taking care of my motorcycle and being in a good team. In the end, Iíve got a good reason to be very happy. The day when winning the Dakar becomes easy, it wonít be interesting any more. And this day is still far!Ē
ďItís too long, itís too tough, itís too hot. Itís too cold. Youíve got to get up early in the morning. Youíve got to find your way out of the maze of dunes in Peru and Chile. Youíve got to tackle the stones and cactuses on the courses near Cůrdoba. Itís just too tricky for it to be easy to win. And itís even better when you win a difficult race. Iím always focused on what I have to do. Weíre up against a grueling element, the desert. Then there are the stones, the AndesÖ and we experience them. Itís as real as it gets.Ē

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Guess he jokingly meant that for Indians, it may not seem to be a big challenge looking at the pic where the bike has to be pulled out of knee deep mud. In monsson, many has to face that situation, only in knee deep water. Chillax guys!

A sincere respect for the Dakar participants & the machines involved.
