Default Man fed up with speeding motorists buys Police camera van and parks it outside home

A RESIDENT fed up with motorists speeding past his suburban house has bought a defunct Police speed camera van off eBay and parked it outside his home in a bid to make the area safer.

Kerry Donnelly claims road users regularly ignored the 30mph speed limit outside his home in Canton, Cardiff, fearing speeding road users could cause a serious accident.

Mr Donnelly was so concerned by the situation he bought a defunct South Wales camera van for 1,500 from eBay auction website, before parking it outside his house.

Mr Donnelly now claims his purchase has significantly reduced the number of speeders driving past his home.

A South Wales Police spokesman has confirmed Mr Donnelly is not breaking any laws.

a friend of mine (us resident) had similar problems with his locality. he simply got the road surface outside his exit painted as an realistic oil spill and put a small road sign of "oil spill ahead"

the rubber spikes is also a good idea

Here in India, people get illegal speed breakers (which are quite steep) set in front of their homes, often one for every home in a line, so vehicle speed comes down to 5 kmph.

I've seen this all over Bangalore.

So true..In my locality..where even speeds above 20kmph is not possible...still people have built up prism like speeds breakers...which would definitely sent the bike into the sky if not seen.

worst part is...98% of them are not painted.
