Honda seems to have decided to launch a bike (in the guise of CBR 250) after ironing out the deficiencies of R-15 like (i) small puny size, (ii) absence of adequate grunt and torque at all rpms, (iii) another 10-12 kmph more top speed, (iv) more posing value than R-15, at a price Rs. 30-35K more than R-15. And I would always prefer a non-ABS one only, as both R-15 and Ninja 250 are also non-ABS versions only. CBR 250 seems to be an effort to better Yamaha bike and thus becomes successful in its effort. Surely, it would just wipe out R-15 from all over the world, if not the Vixion model as well. And that is what Honda perhaps wants to do. If Honda ever had decided to take lead over Ninja 250 model, it had technical means to do so easily even with a single cylinder configuration.

Guys its not just about beating r15 or ninja. Bike sales are taking a beating all over the world and more and more people are getting concerned about fuel economy and practicality. So a good looking 250 with adequate power and good fuel milege and loaded with necessary tech is the best way to survive for honda(or make extra bucks)
expect same type of bikes from all major manufactures soon. Hoping r1s and blades would be still there when i can afford one.

Though there are distinct differences, to the untrained eye or a casual look over, the two looks strikingly similar. The colour scheme helps big time in making the bikes easily distinguishable from one another. Though I prefer the 250 colour scheme.

If at all both are made available in the country. One might see a 150 repainted as a 250 .

Guys its not just about beating r15 or ninja.
So far as Indian market is concerned, it is only about beating your competitor's model, i.e., R-15(performance-wise) and Ninja(price-wise). Think about it.

So a good looking 250 with adequate power and good fuel milege and loaded with necessary tech is the best way to survive for honda(or make extra bucks) expect same type of bikes from all major manufactures soon.
Partially true generalization of world Bike market. But until every major manufacturer has 250 single in India, CBR 250 would poach customers from R-15, P220, 180 cc bikes and also Ninja 250 only. Won't it. Also, as Honda has adopted a different method to face two totally different models (R-15 and Ninja 250) with the help of a 250 single, likewise, its competitors would try to match CBR 250 in their own fashion and not all by launching a single 250. How about a R-20 at 1.20 lakh or a Ninja 250 at 1.90 lakh or so.
