Default Triumph Motorcycles confirms India foray: xBhp News

For all those awaiting official confirmation:

Triumph Motorcycles has officially announced its entry in India by hiring Ashish Joshi, ex-Royal Enfield Europe business head.

They have yet to announce a model lineup...

    Press Article:
New Delhi, Jun 28 (PTI) British iconic motorcycle manufacturer Triumph today said it will enter the Indian market and has appointed Royal Enfield's ex-Europe head Ashish Joshi as its Managing Director for India.
"India is a very important motorcycle market and Triumph has assessed it carefully before deciding to step in. We see it as the next step in our global business model,"Triumph Motorcycles UK Chief Executive Officer Nick Bloor said in statement.

The appointment of Joshi is a signal of the company's seriousness about success in India, he added.

Prior to joining Triumph, Joshi was heading the European operations for Royal Enfield and established the company's business in Europe. He has over 16 years of experience in Asia and Europe, the statement added.

The company, however, did not specify any timeline for launching of its products in India. It also did not elaborate whether the bikes would be imported or assembled in India.

In the past, Triumph has been linked with Bajaj Auto for a possible stake acquisition or alliance which never happened.

Established in 1902, and now based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK, the company is known for its broad range of bikes, including the 2.3 litre Rocket III, Speed Triple, Daytona 675 and the recently launched Tiger 800.

The price of its different models ranges from about 6,650 pounds (about Rs 4.77 lakh) to 12,650 pounds (about Rs 9 lakh) in the UK.

Wouldn't they still have to pay the import duty? or is there an FTA?

    Now what....another importer. Thats Neat,
any news about its Daytona 675 or 675R???
How good is it in terms of power delivery and features??? I think it will be another competitor for the GT 650R, Ninja would be out since it clearly matches with the breed of GT650R (Sports Segment)....

    Hyosung are you listening??

The Daytona is a 675 cc 3 cylinder 125 bhp Super sports bike... It will compete with the likes of ZX6r, GSX -R600, R6, CBR600RR, F3 and the likes... Not the Hyosung... Which falls into a weird category of its own...

    you made my day buddy..ROFLMAO...
Yeah i gues it will take on those big ones which are totally into sports like the Yammies and Kawasaki, not to forget honda in the league....
But my question is since it will target these bikes...why Iam not seeing them here yet!!!! their products are good no doubt then why is the price factor coming in between and delaying their launches.....Do they think India as a trade partner might have cost crunches for 600CC sports tuners????

But whatever it is Iam happy that this brand is here in India...They really have one of the best cruisers like the Bonneville, Thunderbird and youmy gummy rocket III.
