Ducati will be producing the Panigale R Superleggera by the end of 2013.
The Ducati Panigale R Superleggera is going to be the most expensive bike that Ducati will have ever built for sale. The bike will retail for around 60000 Pounds (60 Lakh INR Approx.)! The bike will not be sold to anybody with the money, but will only be sold to people who are invited by Ducati to buy it!
Superleggera means Super Light in Italian and therefore loses 15 kg over the R Version. There will only be 500 units build and sold of the Ducati Panigale R Superleggera. The bike will feature top of the line electronics developed in WSBK by Ducati Corse and this is probably being targeted to make a production ready bike to be able to race in the new WSBK EVO class of motorcycles. This is similar to the line of thought used by BMW in building the HP4.
The Ducati Panigale R Superleggera is expected to produce roughly 200hp at the crank and weigh 180 kg wet.
This news follows close on the heels of the Ducati Panigale 899.
