Hmm... Interesting trend this. Even I had read this news in yesterday's paper and felt good that Hero is actually taking concrete steps for post 2014 by offering industry best warranty. But I casually visited an exhibition here and entered a Mahindra 2 wheelers stall only to be told that the Pantero *also* comes with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty! I didn't bother asking about the scooters but it was well and truly available for Pantero.

Anyways, I hope that this trend catches on with the competition and such 5 year warranties become the rule in the industry rather than an exception. If they have so much confidence in their products, it should show in the warranty they offer.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I dont think this is a gimmick. A 5-year warranty on engine is a very big step for any manufacturer, and it will help in building people's trust on the brand. Only thing - they need a radical change in their service team - in matters of attitude as well as aptitude.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Bajaj gave 5 years unlimited km's warranty on the P220 Fi engine.

Was it of any great help - NO!

There are too many loop holes in warranty T&C and after the bike is 3-4 years old ASC's stop bothering too much about warranty. At the end of the day, warranty is up to the ASC's discretion and they usually hate putting in warranty claim changes.

If you alter anything on your bike, "EVEN YOUR BIKE'S TYRE", or if you have not done the services as per schedule, they can reject the warranty claim. Else, it is okay. I own a hero honda karizma ZMR which comes with 3 year engine warranty and can be extended for 2 more years. But my fear is, if I change the engine oil to SS type, the service interval will be more than 5000 kms. But in the book, they have stated, once service should be done every 3000 kms. So will I get warranty?

you miss any service & they can refuse to let you claim any warranty on their product..& regarding changing tire, if you gonna put tire of same size then its ok with them but if you are cutting/removing chain guard or doing other alterations then your warranty is void..it is obvious that no one gonna run his bike for 70k kms on stock tires just to claim warranty..lol

I extended 2yr warranty on my ZMR as well at the time of its purchase so it became 5yr but as I am using SS oil since after free services so I am very sure that i had crossed the minimum duration of paid services according to them..

That's lot of mileage on the ODO and surely the quality is by far the best when it comes to Hero Honda and sure Hero have learned a lot from Honda. Real great effort by Hero.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

5 Years warranty is nice, helps in regaining the trust.

But There was some other manufacturer ( I guess SYM) that gave life time warranty on its scooters.

All the warranty claim stuff boils down to the the rapport you have with the ASC guys. If you have good rapport, then its easy to get things done.

    My CBZ Xtreme always used

    1. Gulf 10w30 Engine oil
    2. Michelin Tires with M45 4.00x18 on rear
    3. Nightbreaker 55w headlamp

But still I had no problem in claiming warranty for the left side crank case (screwed by ASC) and bore section.
Hero is very good when it comes to resolving the issues with ASC, they always take customers side.

No one will dare to give their bike to HASC even for even free service. So the 5 year gimmick is pointless
