Default Lotus C- 01 Revealed: xBhp News

Lotus the iconic car manufacturer has decided to step into the motorcycle market with the newly named division - Lotus Motorcycles.

The first motorcycle to be produced by the company will be the Lotus C-01. It is supposed to be a high performance bike with integrated racing technology. The bike will use materials like carbon, titanium and aerospace technology. The engine is expected to produce around 200 bhp!

To build this motorcycle Lotus has tied up with Kodewa, Daniel Simon and the Holzer Group. Kodewa is a German automobile race team, while Simon will be the designer.

    Daniel Simon Says -

With the Lotus C-01, we have only one ambition: to create a unique state-of-the-art machine that carries its brutal forces with elegance and style, a high-tech monster in a tailored suit. The C-01, with all its top notch components and materials, is first and foremost emotional, heartbreaking, at times playfully retro, and always clearly a Lotus. Lotus is a glamorous name with a rich history, and the C-01 celebrates it proudly: the shapes of the marvelous Lotus 49 were a main inspiration, and all color schemes pay homage to iconic Lotus racing liveries, such as the dashing black and gold. The intersection of past and future never fails to fascinate, and so does the unique idea of the C-01.

Default Lotus motorcycle officially revealed; with KTM Engine

It looks unique for sure !

From: New bikes | Motorbike reviews | Latest Bike Videos | MCN

Lotus has taken the covers off the new motorcycle it will produce as a road bike and go on sale within months.

Lotus Motorcycles states: "The C-01 combines ample power via a V-twin engine with a distinctive body designed by Daniel Simon integrating carbon fibre, titanium and aerospace quality steel.

We can see the engine is a 1195cc V-twin from KTMs RC8R superbike with a claimed 200bhp and dry weight of 180kg.

"The C-01 motorcycle is not designed, engineered or produced by Group Lotus plc but is the result of a collaboration between motorsport veterans under the leadership of Kodewa, led by Dr Colin Kolles. The development on the C-01 was carried out with the support of Holzer Group (co-owners of Kalex) and design guru Daniel Simon.

"The C-01 will be available in a range of liveries some of which pay homage to Lotus sporting pedigree. A customisation service is also available, limited only by the imagination of the client. With an exclusive production run of just 100 units, superbike collectors and fans of the Lotus brand will need to move fast to secure one."
