This is just fantastic news for those who are dreaming to get a ZX10 in the future. The pricing also seems to be quite competitive. Hats off to Kawasaki for bringing these machines here. I'm sure that we would see quite a lot of green on the roads soon.

India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) today launched two of its highly celebrated motorcycles Ninja ZX 14R and ZX -10R for the Indian market to strengthen its product portfolio. These world renowned bikes skillfully combine power, torque, dexterous handling and super-sport styling.

In India, the bikes will be imported as completely built units (CBU) from Japan and will be retailed through the newly established standalone shop of Kawasaki at Wakdewadi in Pune. The shop will be inaugurated on September 7, 2013 and bookings of the bikes will commence from September 5, 2013. The bikes will be priced at Rs.16.90 Lacsfor ZX-14R and Rs.15.70 Lacs for ZX-10R, ex-showroom Pune.

Kawasakis newest flagship is the ultimate blend of Extreme Excitement and Everyday Versatility. The inimitable road presence of Ninja ZX 14R exemplifies it as direct descendent of the original Ninja. The Ninja ZX-14R ranks amongst the fastest production motorcycles ever offered to the public with a gut-wrenching acceleration that effortlessly pushes the bike to its high speed. The 14R comes with an in-line four, four-stroke, liquid-cooled and 1,441cc power-plant, this making up to 210bhp with Kawasakis renowned ram-air system feeding the engine more air as speeds rise. The bike uses a six-speed gearbox.

Ninja ZX-10R is a circuit performance machine, with razor-sharp handling, aimed at professionals. Featuring a new engine, new frame and new suspension, Kawasakis newest litrebike represents the first complete redesign since the Ninja ZX-10Rs debut, and offers a significant jump in base performance. The bike has an in-line four, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 998cc engine that unleashes a torque of 200bhp. Equipped with a six-speed gearbox, the ZX-10R is armed with top of the line suspension fully adjustable front and rear with inverted forks and a horizontal mounted, gas charged monoshock at the rear. The 10R comes with disc brakes at front and rear, a set of 310mm, petal type rotors in front. Cutting edge technology and features like Kawasakis new race-type traction control system(S-KTRC) and supersport-grade ABS (KIBS) are equipped to assist as riders explore the bike.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Yuji Horiuchi, MD, India Kawasaki Motors said,

We would take this opportunity to thank our partners Bajaj Auto for the incessant support in setting up this business and will look forward to their continued collaboration in the future. With the positive feedback on our existing models such as Ninja 300 and Ninja 650, I am confident that the new launches will also be accepted by the Indian consumers enthusiastically. India is an important market more us and which is why we have brought the latest and the best of Ninjas portfolio in the country. We are optimistic of introducing 1-2 launches of this stature every-year.

In the steady super-bikes market of India, IKM initial target for sales is 100 units per year. IKM will expand its business territory in a phased manner, with its focus on Maharashtra, followed by the rest of the country. IKM is looking at carefully selecting and training staff that can work on the two valued motorcycles. The Ninja ZX-14R and ZX-10R will be sold and serviced through the exclusive shop of Kawasaki.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

    rofl@ two kidneys.
Great news indeed, hope they do well here in India. For most of us it'll always remain a dream to ride one of these. :/

they'll be cheaper but not by far, also if it's a CBU then hardly much difference. but a 600cc supersport would be less intimidating than these top of the class machines and make more sense to me, might even give noticeably better FE. Yes FE, it always matters to some extent. I think Triumph Triple & Daytona series is gonna be CKU, their prices should definitely be around 10lakhs or less. & still provide the amazing riding experience of a supersport we all dream of. and the sound of a Triple cylinder engine !
Can somoene confirm this btw, I never asked this on xBhp. A guy from USA on youtube claiming to be a professor in Economics told me, that 600cc is actually banned in India, been banned for years and hence we don't see any official launches of 600cc class bikes (only imports are seen on the road), this move is intended to protect the domestic market. Is this information true ?

Just wanted to comment on this part. Super Sports like R6, CBR600, GSXR600 and ZX6R (now 636) give mileage of around 42-23mpg, that's around 17-18kmpl. The Liter class bikes like R1, CBR1000RR, etc give around 32-33mpg, that's around 14-15kmpl. If that's the FE difference you looking for then your on the right track or else super sport/super bike engines are pushed a lot to generate so much power. It's very difficult to manage a good FE out of these. A CBR600 engine would have similar engineering behind it as a CBR1000 engine (more or less). Its just a size difference that would really matter.
Even the street bikes like Ducati 696 give around 50 or less mpg. That would sum around 21 kmpl.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

I must say very competitively priced as the speculation prices very high the announced prices the speculated prices very 18 lacs for zx10r and 20 lacs for zx14r, 15.7L and 16.9L seems very impressive Bajaj sure is looking forward for a big piece of superbike sale cake

When did I say going for a 600cc sounds like a good deal only because it gives few Kms more with 1 liter of petrol than a liter class bike. I only said it's just one of the very small benefits of owning a 600cc instead of a 999cc one, along with several other positives. Hence, a more sensible choice because you still have enormous power to play with and the sound of an inline-4, A notiecably better FE is always good thing to have isn't. Predictably if one's pushing either of these bikes to their 250kmph+ limit, which is almost impractical in India.. Both class will give about the same mileage I guess.
