Well, it's all clear now. Faired and naked version of the new bike, to be called 250SL Mono (250SL RR Mono for the faired version), has been revealed in more spyshots.

This is certainly interesting development from Kawasaki. It seems they want to cover all the possible bases when it comes to entry level bikes with single and twin cylinder engines making their line up.

It's certainly open to debate. It can benefit Kawasaki by giving it sales volume which can't be matched by the existing Ninja 250R (if priced right).

The other advantage is that Kawasaki can compete with both Honda and Yamaha on a global scale. For European and American markets, the new 250 will be a more pocket friendly option, while the twin-cylinder 250 will appeal to consumers who want more power and more aggressive styling.

For the emerging markets (India, Indonesia, South-East Asia, etc.), these 2 bikes will give Kawasaki even higher sales volume in the premium segment compared to Honda and Yamaha.

But the bottom line is, Kawasaki is trying hard to compete against the 2 big Japs, especially in terms of total sales numbers. Kawasaki doesn't have any small capacity scooters or high-selling mopeds (relevant is South-East and East Asia), or any 100-125cc commuter bikes (in South Asia and Africa). The only segment where Kawasaki can really compete is the 150cc and above category.

Well, the white beauty looks really sexy.. I don't know why, but it seems to me like a 150 mill.. The size of d bike looks proportional to 150. Fingers crossed. And the naked version looks like a plain jane 150 to compete with the likes of FZ or duke.

A crash on d road may kill d biker n d bike, but d relationship btwn d bike n d biker never dies.

These bikes are irrelevant for India. And, those alloys won't last a day here.

There is no law which dictates which category a bike belongs to.

Yamaha and Honda calls its R125 and CBR125 as Super Sports (Check out the Yamaha and Honda UK websites).. KTM is also calling its RC125 as Super Sports.

I guess a bike which looks, feels (handles & produces power) like a "scaled down" 600/1000 cc race replicas can be generically categorized as Super Sports (by the manufacturer).

Nice bike. Is it a kind of replacement to the 250N and additional tries of boosting the premium segment sales in emerging markets? Anyways it doesn't look like its even close in making to the domestic Indian market.
