Smile After international partnership, Triumph partners Castrol for marketing in India.

    Triumph partners Castrol for marketing.

NEW DELHI: On 7th of July 2014, Triumph Motorcycles and Castrol India joined hands to market products of the British cult bike maker in India and a technology support pact to co-engineer lubricants for future models. As per the agreement, Castrol India will be the lubricant supplier for Triumph Motorcycles and will supply fully synthetic and high-performance, Castrol Power1 Racing engine oil to all Triumph dealerships in India.

"In addition, Castrol and Triumph will jointly undertake marketing and promotional activities for Triumph motorcycles in India, with Castrol also providing technology support to Triumph through co-engineering of lubricants for future motorcycle models," the companies said in a statement.

Commenting on the partnership, Triumph Motorcycles India Managing Director Vimal Sumbly said: "We are extremely pleased to have tied up with Castrol, one of the leading brands for motorcycle lubricants. Triumph Motorcycles is committed to providing a complete riding experience and this tie up will further enhance the commitment that Triumph has brought to India."

Castrol India Managing Director Ravi Kirpalani said: "We are delighted to lend our technical and marketing support to Triumph as they bring their exciting range of motorcycles to India. We will work closely with Triumph to develop and supply the latest technology products as they expand their footprint in the country."

Castrol and Triumph have tied up globally to make an attempt to break the motorcycle land speed record with the Hot Rod Conspiracy/Carpenter Racing Castrol Rocket. The Castrol Rocket is a unique 1,000-horsepower motorcycle built like a fighter jet. "The goal is an eventual 400-mph-plus record-breaking run," the statement said.

    Website related to Castrol Rocket:

If you want to know where this rocket originated from, which engine it has, then think about it:- Triumph and Rocket.... Yes, you got it. Castrol Rocket is powered by Twin turbocharged inline-3 1485cc (destroked) engines from Triumph Rocket III, the biggest capacity motorcycle from the British company.

But guys, don't get confused. This news is not about Castrol Rocket, which is already there since some time now, since 2013 or so. This news is only about Indian collaboration of Triumph with Castrol for marketing reasons. Internationally, they have collaborated in the past, so that's no news. And only this earlier collaboration resulted in Castrol Rocket.

As for this news, it could mean that maybe Castrol will develop special oils for Triumph motorcycles which would be recommended by Triumph. And it could also meant that these 2 companies might engage in combined advertising, and promotional events.
Could they have combined showrooms? Well, maybe not immediately, or maybe never. But it seems like a good idea for Triumph. Anyone who walks in to get a Castrol pack, might just be motivated to own a Triumph...
As of now, Enthusiasts don't consider Castrol at top of the chain, but there's no doubting that Castrol makes good products. Castrol India currently sells oil for almost every Indian bike, including Duke 390, Karizma, Pulsar series, Bullet, etc.
