Smile The Iconic Honda Gold Wing GL1800 launched in India, on its 40th anniversary.

Honda Gold Wing GL1800 launched in India, on the eve of its 40th anniversary.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., today launched its hugely popular touring motorcycle - the Gold Wing - in India. Furthermore, the day also marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic bike.

Powering the Gold Wing is a 6-cylinder 1832cc engine that is claimed to be highly efficient and reliable. The lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminium frame and single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm delivers stability, and neutral & responsive handling. Additionally, features like five-position heated grips, independently adjustable heated seats and foot-warming system make it a really good tourer during winters. It also gets a luggage capacity of over 150-litres. However, that's not all; the bike also gets a 6-speaker 80W SRS surround-sound system, and riders can connect their iPhone, iPod and USB stick to play their favourite music.

To make it a safe vehicle to drive in all situations and conditions, the Gold Wing comes fitted with Combined Braking System (CBS) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). For added protection, the bike also gets a fully-integrated airbag (available only in Gold Wing - Airbag), which was an industry-first feature when introduced in 2006. The bike also features a slow-speed, electric reverse system that provides the ease of overall manoeuvring in tight spaces and parking areas.

What a way to celebrate its 40th anniversary! While the probably inevitable price tag of Rs. 28.5 Lacs isn't all that affordable for everyone, but the choice to conveniently purchase a product is always good, if not for one customer, then maybe for another.
And Gold Wing stands for the top cruisers in the world.

Here's wishing Honda all the best for their journey in India, and wishing that the "Make in India" concept is carried well... It surely will be, we guess, as the comparatively more relevant CBR 650F isn't that far now....

Guys, what do you think about the Gold Wing launch?

This looks so "value for money" compared to HD CVO Limited, costing 60 lakhs on road in New Delhi. Touring on Goldwing with pillion would be as comfortable as travelling in a car. That pillion "sofa" seat is so inviting

Amazing bike and surprising that Honda thought of India release. This may not be the kind of tourer that Indians are looking for, but it is one heck of a grand way to recognize the touring opportunity that this country offers for motorcycle enthusiasts. Kudos to Honda. This is probably one bike for which people would line up to be pillion, including ones mother in law!
