Default Yamaha Starts Dealer Training For R25

Yamaha India has commenced dealer training for a 250cc engine and also showcased the test bike to dealers with the launch scheduled in April 2015, soon after the 2015 R1 is launched.

You read it first on MotorBeam. Your wait for the ultimate quarter-litre offering from Yamaha will finally be over next year. While the 2015 R1 has been confirmed for launch in March 2015, enthusiasts looking for something more affordable won’t have to wait too long as the R25 will be arriving on Indian shores by April next year. Multiple service personnels from the manufacturer inform us that Yamaha has already commenced dealer training for the R25 across the country.
The training is said to be done for a 250cc engine that equates to the Yamaha R25 and not the R3, which was also speculated for launch in the Indian market. Over the next four months, the Japanese manufacturer will be conducting its service training once every month and the test bike has been showcased to dealers as well. Yamaha is likely to bring the ABS equipped R25 that will soon go on sale in Indonesia, while no changes to the mechanicals or power output are expected on the India spec model.

Powering the Yamaha R25 is a 249cc parallel-twin cylinder DOHC, 8-valve engine that belts out 36 PS at 12,000 RPM and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed transmission. The bike comes with a high compression ratio of 11.6:1 and uses DiASil cylinders for better heat dissipation. Suspension duties are performed by 41 mm telescopic front forks and a monocross set-up at the rear, while stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and rear.
A high awaited model in the country, the Yamaha R25 is touted to be the last word in performance in the quarter-litre space competing against the very popular KTM RC 390. The company will be bringing the bike via the CKD route that is expected to keep the prices on the higher end. While details on the pricing are not out yet, the R25 can be expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 2.85 lakhs (ex-showroom) with ABS and will be undercutting its major competition, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 by a significant margin.

    News approved.

For members' information, this news was double posted, but this particular topic was posted earlier, hence approving this thread only (after adding images to the post).

There can be only logistical reasons to launch the R25 instead of the R3, but not logical reasons.
The game has now shifted to the 300-400cc segment, although I believe the 250 twin will still hold good to most of them competitors out there...

I have spoken to few dealers about R25 but there was no news. They saying instead of R25 some other Bike may make appearance. But if this news is true than you can see some more aggressive bikes on Indian Roads

Yamaha officially has always been tight lipped with it's product launches and updates in India. I will still take this news as rumour.

PS: another website is claiming to reveal the price of 2015 R1 (24 lakhs) and R1M (32 lakhs) for India launch, to which I think the complete news is BS.

With Yamaha, seeing is believing. Even if they do end up launching it, I believe its too little too late. At estimated price tag of 3L or more, this doesn't cut the VFM equation and it isn't a pioneering product like R15. So a premium pricing for a "me too" product won't exactly set the sales chart on fire.

Why on earth would Yamaha start training the dealers and mechs for a bike that might be launched almost 5 months from now? Baseless rumours.

    Hopefully it's R3 ... not R25.

Still in April 2015 that too dealers don't know anything about it or do not want to disclose anything. I wonder that Yamaha has already started taking bookings for new R1 & R1M, then why not bring R25 or R3 to India before than R1 & R1M

what is reason for launching 250CC, when they could have launched R3, which actually is more than 300CC. it would have been an awesome package.
