Default Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship - Round 4: xBhp News

Jagan Kumar of TVS Racing team came up with another brilliant performance to destroy a quality field in the premium Group B (165cc) Open class as he registered his third win of the season in the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship at the MMRT track on Saturday.

Equally impressive winners of the day included Vishwadev Muraleedharan (Sparks Racing) who took the honours in the Group D (165cc) Novice class and Mathana Kumar (Ten10 Racing) who was in a league of his own while topping the Group C (165cc) Open class race.

The One-Make Championship races involving the four leading two-wheeler manufacturers Yamaha, Honda, TVS and Suzuki also produced some fine moments. Mithun Kumar (Yamaha R15), Aravind Ganesh (TVS RTR 160), Sarath Kumar (Honda CBR 250) and Ananth Raj (Suzuki Gixxer Cup) won the Open class races in their respective series.

After qualifying for pole position with a lap record timing of one minute, 53.968 seconds, Jagan, who recently won a Asian Road Racing Championship race in Indonesia, did not look back as he opened up a sizeable lead from the very first of the six laps to win with much to spare.

Finishing behind Jagan was the Moto-Rev Yamaha pair of Deepak Ravikumar and Rajini Krishnan while two other fancied riders, Sarath Kumar (Ten10 Racing) came in a disappointing sixth after running wide on the last corner and championship leader Harry Sylvester (TVS Racing) was seventh.

Rajini Krishnan, after fluffing the qualifying session when his bike packed up, also rode a superb race. The veteran started eighth on the grid and sliced through the field to finish a creditable third.

It was a good race. The bike and the set-up were almost flawless. I set a lap record yesterday (Friday) in the qualifying session and today, it was just about a perfect race for me. I hope I can maintain the form tomorrow (Sunday) for the second race, said an elated Jagan who thus moved to the top of the championship table with 87 points while Rajini Krishnan is second on 83, ahead of Sylvester (75).

Sarath Kumar shrugged off the disappointing Group B race and won the Honda CBR 250 outing barely an hour later after surviving a close contest with Sumit Lucas Toppo (Prolap Racing) who eventually finished third behind Dinesh Kumar (United Torque Racing).

Provisional results (all 6 laps unless mentioned):

Jagan Kumar (TVS Racing) and Mathana Kumar (Ten10 Racing) made it a day to remember by completing a double each in the fourth and penultimate round of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship on Sunday at the MMRT track.

One of the stars of the weekend was 21-year old Kannan Karnan, a mechanic from Chennai, who rode away with three wins, including a double in the Yamaha R15 Novice category of the MMSC One-Make Championship and one in the Group D (165cc) Novice class of the National Championship.

Riding the superbly tuned RTR with aplomb, Jagan Kumar stamped his authority on the top-end Group B (165cc) Open class by winning both the races over the weekend.

As in the first race on Saturday, Jagan Kumar opened a massive lead by the end of the first lap and went on to win by the proverbial country mile with his TVS Racing team-mate, 19-year old KY Ahmed trailing in second place ahead of Moto-Rev Yamaha Racing teams Deepak Ravikumar.

The double saw Jagan Kumar move to the top of the championship standings in his category with a tally of 112 points ahead of veteran Rajini Krishnan (95) who finished third in the first race and fourth in the second after starting from the back of the grid. Championship leader Harry Sylvester slipped two places to third.

Mathana Kumar, with his second double of the season, exerted similar dominance in the Group C (165cc) Open class and jumped three places in championship stakes to the top spot with a tally of 118 points. In the process, he pushed championship leader Ananth Raj (115) to second place and Sumit Lucas Toppo (96) to third.

Kannan Karnans win in the Group D (165cc) Novice class race moved him to the top of the championship table in this category with 102 points, ahead of Aravind B (94) and Vishwadev Mraleedharan (93) who had won the first race on Saturday.

The MMSC One-Make Championship saw Ten10 Racings Sarath Kumar (Honda CBR 250), Aravind Ganesh (TVS RTR 180 Open) and Satish Kumar (TVS Novice) also chalking up a double each over the weekend.

The two wins helped Sarath Kumar to pick up 50 points which boosted his tally to 136 on the leaderboad, well clear of other contenders.

Aravind Ganesh took his championship tally to 83 points, nine clear of KY Ahamed while Satish Kumar moved to the top in his class with 80 points.

Kannan Karnan was equally dominating in the Yamaha R15 Novice category as his two wins took him clear of the field in the championship stakes, raking up 100 points while Mithun Kumar, with a win and a second place, forged ahead in the Yamaha R15 Open class with a tally of 86 points.

Sivanesan, with a victory in the second race of the Honda CBR 150 class, moved to the top of the championship table in his category while Ananth Raj (156 points) and Vishwadev Muraleedharan (162) consolidated their positions at the top of the leaderboard in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Open and Novice categories, respectively.
