The race was dominated by Jorge Lorenzo, Marquez and Valentino Rossi but it was only Marquez who decided to take a pitstop after the Yamaha riders stayed out too long on wet tyres when the majority of the field made their second pitstop to change bikes. With slick tyres Lorenzo crashed almost immediately and left himself facing a huge uphill task in the championship.

Rossi stayed out too late and fell back to fifth but the points gained will be crucial for the title. The Yamaha riders were focused only on each other and it left Marquez free to come through and claim the win.

It was a slightly disappointing race with me rooting for Rossi. I think the rains played a spoilsport and the final result was decided by the decision on when to switch to wet and then again dry setup. Rossi took a gamble and it did not go in his favour. I just wish nobody blames him for this. Had there been second round of showers, this would have been hailed as masterpiece and would have become memorable race for his fans.

On the other hand, Smith took another gamble of switching to dry setup back again the first and it paid for him. Marquez finally took a decision instead of following Rossi and Lorenzo and it paid him. What Lorenzo did can be termed stupid at best. All he needed to do was to finish the race staying as close to Rossi on points as possible. He anyways had advantage with Rossi switching late.
