Thumbs up TVS Launches XL 100 In Uttar Pradesh, Priced At Rs. 29,198.

TVS Launches XL 100 In Uttar Pradesh, Priced At Rs. 29,198.

TVS has launched a powerful version of its popular moped, the XL Super, itís called XL 100 with sales limited to the Uttar Pradesh market.

The TVS XL is one popular moped that is mostly found in rural areas of the country. Buyers donít have much options available in those areas and in their price range and hence such low-cost mopeds turn out to become a popular choice. TVS is the king of mopeds in India and the company has now launched the XL 100 in Uttar Pradesh, priced at Rs. 29,198/- (ex-showroom). The XL 100 continues to feature the same utilitarian styling of the older XL but it comes with a bigger 100cc engine.

The TVS XL 100 is available in the following colours Ė black, red, green, blue and grey. It will be available at all TVS dealerships in Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle has not been launched in other parts of the country and there is no news as to whether itíll be introduced in the rest of the country or not. The current version of the XL is powered by a 70cc engine. The XL Super is so popular that it continues to feature on the list of the top 10 selling two-wheelers every month, having sales of more than 60,000-odd units.

This is not exactly a groundbreaking news or the most classy of product launches, but it still holds a place, for many a common people.
A strange thing is its state limited launch. I admit U.P., with a population of over 32 crores is a big market, but why limit a product to a state only?

A very strategic move by TVS. In the rural areas, bikes with a high fe are always welcome and TVS has identified the right area. If taken care of, XL 100 has the capability of raking in big numbers.

I was very glad for a while when I came to know about a bigger 100cc Two stroker being made available to the public again. But my joy was short lived when I looked up the TVS site only to find the newer "100 cc" to be a 4 stroke engine. Only time will tell if the success of this model will be a final blow to the 2 stroker in the TVS moped lineup. I hope both co-exist for a few more years atleast.
