Thumbs up Samsung launches Mobile Phone (J3), with Biker Protection mode in India.

Samsung launches J3 mobile phone, with Biker Protection mode in India.

Few days ago, we saw Samsung and Yamaha team up to launch a new visor/ console, which aimed at providing notifications to the bike rider. It was a bit criticised at first. But you may probably not criticise Samsung for this move....

What is related to the hashtag #TapKickVroom? Well, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is launching in India with a new S Bike feature.

It's a sort of Do Not Disturb feature that prevents unwanted distractions while riding a bike. The feature is enabled using the included NFC tag and will handle incoming calls.

Normally, the Galaxy J3 won't show any notifications so as not to disturb the rider. It will play a message, explaining that the phone's owner is riding a bike and can't answer. If it's an emergency, the caller can press 1 and the call will go through.
You still can't answer the call - Motion Lock makes sure you're completely stationary before the phone lets you answer.

Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) features a 5" Super AMOLED screen (720p), quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM, LTE and dual-SIM connectivity, plus a 2,600mAh battery. The phone has two cameras - 8MP/1080p on the back and 5MP on the front. The J3 is available right now for INR 9,000 ($135/€120).

For those riders who're anyways on silent mode on the ride, or those who stop first and then pick up calls, this won't make much of a difference. But its largely helpful even if most riders don't use it, because it does raise awareness.

Guys, what do you think about it? How can this feature be modified/ enhanced so as to be more safer?

Definitely a very useful feature. i hope they get this app for other manufactures as well. i hate to pull over to answer the call only to say I'm riding, will call back later.

Good one! Yeah it would be useful if the app was made available to other manufacturers as well or if it was made available on the play store. Well done Samsung!

    hey all

    cool initiative.

i miss out on a lot of calls while i ride. (murphy's law ?!)
i keep my cellphone in my backpack while on bike.... as i fear it will break in case of a fall + might penetrate into my thigh.

    very handy for riders.

other manufacturers would soon roll out similar apps i guess !

    cheers.

The S bike mode user does not get any notification that there was an incoming call (to avoid distraction).

One Big improvement would be getting notifications of all the calls once you deactivate the mode. for us know who called while we were on the go and can call back once we take a halt.

Great convenience to bikers brought to you by Samsung I hope other brands of phone would do this as well such as Huawei or Xiaomi.

Samsung feels bikers. It's very good example for other smartphone brands. I just bought Samsung as well.
