    KTM RC 250 spotted

    KTM has one upcoming trick up its sleeve I guess.

    I spotted a KTM RC250 testing on Old Pune-Mumbai Highway. Upon talking to the rider (who was very reluctant to reveal the details), he told me that the 248.8cc single cylinder engine churns out 31 BHP and 24 Nm of torque and weighs approximately 147 kg (dry) but misses out on ABS, Ride-by-Wire and slipper clutch like in the Duke 390 (2017).

    Looking at the bike it seems like RC250 shares all the parts with the RC390.

      This is very interesting. This will open up a whole new fully fared focused 250cc segment.

        There was one Duke 390 as well behind this which I was not able to snap a pic of. When I enquired, the rider said its just a support bike but I don't think that is true. There was some kind of white cloth/wrap covering the engine like they were hiding something.

            That would give a massive shake to the entire KTM line up as all the bikes from 125cc to 690cc have a single-cylinder engine and 1090 Adventure range is the only twin cylinder engine from KTM. As per the KTM, 790 Duke might soon get a twin cylinder engine.

                  It wasn't. Only the engine portion is covered. Rest everything is a 2017 Duke 390.

                    But the duke 250 is already considered to be slightly overpriced so this will be even more pricey right.

                      Yes i guess its coming up. There is placeholder on KTM website. Although i dont think it will be launched in india

                        Upon zooming in i think theres an abs ring or am i imaging it. I know the rider said no abs.

                          the rc250 has been around for sometime now. it's sold in japan iirc, does have abs and slipper clutch.
                          if it is launched here, will the same specs carry on to India.. the slipper clutch probably yes.. but abs

                            I know its got the goodies outside india. But can you look closely at the rear disc. You can see an abs ring. Hopefully it comes with that and the rider just didint reveal that and our informer failed to get a clear look at the disc.
