  • Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the immediate pipeline!

Looks big though. Hopefully, it churns out more power.

Recently, they were spotted shooting a commercial in the streets of the USA.

Good news is that they may replace the current Ninja 300 which essentially means they as well be launched in India.

    Approved.

Kawasaki did have a Ninja 400R in 2011, but they....guess what, used the Ninja 650R's already heavy engine and body for the purpose.
The result? Well, it was a 43bhp 400cc which weighed 203 kgs. Like 650R, it too had a 270 crank, which meant focus on torque, and less of the "hum" of a multicylinder in low revs.
Needless to say, it wasn't exactly wet dream of a lot of bikers, although it got the work done.

The good thing Kawasaki can do with this new 400, is just to make a bigger Ninja 300, honestly.
The same 360* equal firing order, the same high revs, the same practicality as a Ninja 300, just bigger and torquier.

What would be even more awesome, would be to have 4 cylinders!
But that's highly unlikely, seeing how people will expect a 16000 rpm redline, with Euro 4 compliance.

The 400 is still on sale in certain markets. https://www.kawasaki-cp.khi.co.jp/mc...ex400ef_e.html
But its heavy, really heavy for the old 650R looks. Considering the 400R was a sleeved down 650 , the new one maynot be , nor a bored 300, since 300 itself is a bored 250R. A new lighter engine? Probably.
An early 2018 India launch is what I heard last. The 300 is also on discount now across India. Nov 6 is the date for 400.

Edit : official Video out now.

250 for Indonesia, and 400 for rest of the world. Both same looks. I dont know what will the 300 do, mostly production is stopped

400 features LED headlamps and tail lamps, assist and slipper clutch, all new 399cc engine, 44.5BHP and 38NM torque, ABS, same meter as new N650/N1000, all new trellis frame, 168kgs weight.

Hmm, only 6 more hp from an additional 100 cc. The tuning seems to be for more torque down low = its not a "sport" bike, more of a commuter/tourer.
