Default Pulsar and Eliminator MakeOver - Now official

Your truly is again bringing you the utting edge news/reports.
    Here it is:

Bajaj looks to power its bottomline with high-end bikes
    PADMAPRIYA

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2004 11:09:02 PM]
HYDERABAD: Whoever said that looks dont matter? After its mass-market offerings, Bajaj Auto is now training its guns on the image-creator segment. It is relaunching its power bikes next month.

The company has revisited the Eliminator and Pulsar 180 and is rolling them out in the market after cutting prices.

Bajaj Auto officials said, the company has already started the production schedule and despatches to select dealers will begin next week. While the Eliminator is expected to cost Rs 60,000, the Pulsar 180cc will be available at Rs 50,000-55,000.

Earlier, Bajaj had priced the Eliminator at a whopping Rs 95,000.

Sources said the company is not looking at booking huge sales volumes in this category.

It is an image-creating bike. We are hoping to excite the consumer with a high-end bike at an Indian price point, Bajaj Auto regional manager (AP) BK Senapathi said.

Once it relaunches its bikes, Bajaj will straddle all segments, from the basic, executive and premium to cruise bikes.

Company sources say pricing had to be made more competitive to boost offtake. Earlier, the company had managed to sell about 1,000 Eliminators a month. Targeted at bike enthusiasts, Bajaj now hopes to sell 3,000 Eliminators and Pulsars each every month.

The company is targeting cities like Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and mini-metros.

Bajaj Auto has launched several new products this year, like the CT100 and Discover and a gearless scooter is in the pipeline.

The revisit of the high-end bikes is seen as a way of optimising the investment already made in the project in the form of plant and assembly. Industry watchers say the average Indian consumer is asking for more power in its bikes.

There has been a conscious customer shift from 100cc to 125cc bikes. The upgradation has seen a slew of new models like the Victor, Discover, Freedom, LML 125, Kinetic 125 and Yamaha Fazer.

no man, 55,000 is the ex-showroom price of 180-dtsi, which is what it is currently. What Bajaj may be trying to keep the price same and yet offer alloy wheels. The subtle goal?? to target Honda Unicorn. Think over it and you will get what Bajaj is doing to tackle Unicorn......cut the price 150 dtsi and offer much more to 180 dtsi......good stuff, isn't it??

the ex showroom price of the 180 dtsi is 55k..
the upgrade with alloys, exausTEC and gas susp will cost another 4-5k more as informed 2 me by an official..
now..the thing cud be that the upgr8 retains the pricing of the old one..
awesome..so they shub be given the gas susp and exausTEC as well as alloys free of cost to recent dtsi owners in exchange of normal parts...
    wish this happens..if they r ready 2 upgr8 4 like 3 k..im gonna do it!!!!!
