BTW doesn't this handling charge thing come off as a #metoo moment for the bike market? I have heard so many companies accused of this and so many people just let them do it instead of protesting. Good on the people raising their voice!

many bikes do have an intake at that very similar position on the front..sometimes referred to as 'ram air intake', and some have pseudo 'intake' for aesthetic or maybe even aerodynamic reasons.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View Post

It's the air intake. The R6 has had that same hole for a while, and the R1 now has one as well, as have most of the Kawasaki bikes going back to the mid-2000s. Honda, Suzuki, and Ducati go with a pair of smaller inlets rather than one big one. GP bikes also have had just the single inlet for some time. The paired smaller inlets have mostly been required due to the limitations presented by the headlight assemblies.
