Default Royal Enfield 500 Pegasus ed. owners are unhappy, with Classic 350 Signals ABS' launch.

Royal Enfield Pegasus 500 owners not happy with RE.

So, what did Royal Enfield do wrong with their loyal fanbase? They did the right things, yes, but in the wrong order.. Let us see..

    1. Firstly, they launched Pegasus edition of Classic 500, which was limited only to 250 units, and was priced at Rs 2.40 Lakh.
The Classic Pegasus edition's official link is here: https://royalenfield.com/motorcycles...c-500-pegasus/

    2. But then, they launched Classic 350 ABS Signals for Rs 1.61 Lakh in India (which is a solid Rs. 80,000 lower than the Pegasus edition), to pay a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, in roughly a similar theme as the 500 before it.
As you can see, this one costs much lower, has similar classical design and ABS too, which is not even present in the senior model.
    Its link is here: https://royalenfield.com/motorcycles...c-350-signals/

I leave the comparison to you...

So, as a result, disgruntled Royal Enfield Pegasus 500 owners have called the RE CEO out on Twitter, with their demands which range from company recall for ABS, to refunding a certain sum, to make a low-loss exchange possible...

And Royal Enfield responded, not quite the favourable reply the owners were expecting but still, here it is:-

Some owners, understandably not happy with the above reply, are contemplating what once a famous Maharaja did to Rolls Royce, I guess you all remember the story?
Yes, donating the bike to Municipality for "Swatch Bharat Abhiyan" is what some of them plan/threaten for now.

We at Xbhp hope that doesn't happen.
The owners have stood by the brand in highs and lows, even when Bajaj was promoting the Dominar and indirectly belittling RE with a "hathi mat palo" campaign.
It would be sad to see such pictures go viral, specially because they're dedicated to WWII.

Recently we saw KTM responding to a call for action, by a group of customers, but that was for quality issues from the assembly line itself. This time the situation is different, but we're still talking about premium customers...

Dear Royal Enfield, we've seen your response, but do you have an action plan for now?

And Rushlane for the RE's reply image.

    Xbhpians,

Let's play a small game to have a mutual understanding of how serious the problem is.

I'm attaching 2 images of fuel tanks of both the bikes, and I'll ask you a simple question:-- Which one is Pegasus 500 and which one is Classic 350 Signals (ABS)... ?

You can answer in the poll above. So, here we go....

What is more appalling is folks falling for the color schemes/graphics and paying a premium for it in the name on 'limited editions' and RE is taking advantage of the brand 'bullet' (which is what RE is surviving on) and milking the customers.

People who paid for a paintjob has only themselves to blame. Everyone know the quality or the lack thereof of RE products, and still queued up to buy the same product with a different paintjob and a few accessories?

Let me take a few moments to laugh at the fanboys/keyboard warriors who will defend the company.

It's actually funny and even if they give away to Municipal bodies, they'll return it because it's a waste anyway that is not even good for the planet.
Who in their right mind and all 5 senses alive will buy a RE paintjob bike, celebrating England's dominance from WW2? It's like paying the rulers who ruled us for 200 years. They still milking money from Indians and RE is having a pocket full of laughter.
Reliability and quality are 2 things RE has never been good at. Super costly spares for what they offer and just recently they discovered that alloy wheels are a thing and ABS is an electronic black magic that actually helps stabilized braking and control - Oh wait, that's not what RE is all about, isn't it?
What's the company's moto and aim?
    Innovation - Nopes
Feel - ohhh the vibrations are best not spoken about.
    Quality - I'm sorry, whatt!!
Will I buy a RE - Yes but only if they can modernize and accept for embracing good changes and make it a reliable and fun machine.

Excellent point. If they donate the bikes to Municipal bodies, the problem is they would only get a few weeks' of use out of them before they start breaking down every day, as is usual with REs.

Even when the maharaja was insulted by Rolls Royce and he turned his Rolls collection into garbage trucks, they actually ran reliably.

To be fair I don't think RE tried to dupe anyone here, the Pegasus and Signals are 500 and 350cc respectively and they seem to have just now introduced ABS into their 350cc models via the Signals and their is no ABS still on 500cc. I still personally like the look of Pegasus over Signals and the only thing I find common in looks in them is the ARMY type numbering on the tank and black colour of engine and exhaust.

This complaint looks little unreasonable, if you consider this then even people who bought N300 should be complaining that they would have bought N400 if they had known earlier. There is always some models planned and released independently of other models and the manufacturer cannot be expected to release any news of forthcoming models to potential customers. It is simply you buy based on what is present and what is known.

To claim that they were taken for a ride is pure BS, they already knew they were paying like crazy when the selected the model just based on color and branding.

Case of sour grapes of a new model coming in-RE has every right to come up with new models with new add on features as and when they deem fit.

Truly said. RE is already munching millions of dollars by selling a heavy piece of steel junk with ancient technology from the Ist world war. Why will they stop capitalizing the blind egoistic fanboys now!?

It's double the fun when RE fanboys came to know that they wasted insane amount of money on a sticker job and the same sticker job comes on a lower model, that was just too much for their tiny brains to handle! What did they expect from a cheap good-for-nothing brand, loyalty?

Fair valuation of RE motorcycles: Base models should be around Rs. 70000, that too just because steel is costly nowadays. All other hyped up models: around 90000 to 100000.
