    Operator says, “Sheriff, we have reports of a few wild Diavels running amok in the area. You might need backup.” Sherriff replies, “Triumph is sending backup, so relax!” That was a fantasy conversation, but a new Triumph Rocket III definitely seems real. The official design sketch of the Triumph Rocket III was revealed to dealers at Triumph’s annual conference. There’s no official word on the return of the Rocket but it might very well be out in the open come 2019.

    Now, according to the report, the new Triumph Rocket III is going to be a very serious weapon. In the conference, it was revealed that the new Rocket III will be powered by a new 2.5L inline-triple engine, the power figure of which will be in excess of 180 Bhp and the torque might very well exceed 230 Nm. Meant to be a power cruiser much like the Ducati Diavel, the numbers surely look like the Rocket III is poised to dominate its Italian counterpart.

    Numbers aside, there’s a whole lot of goodness that the pictures reveal. Firstly, the wide handlebars will provide a great leverage over the beefy triple clamps and huge forks. Then we have the Brembo M50 calipers gripping floating discs that look like 330 mm units. The rear wheel now sits on a single-sided swingarm with the three-into-two exhaust exiting through twin stubby slash-cut silencers.

    Apart from that, a scalloped rider seat is there which is aimed at preventing an unwanted rearward exit under hard acceleration which the new Triumph Rocket III will surely be capable of if the numbers are to be believed. The rear light is located high in the tail, the stubby unit is further cleaned up by the swingarm supporting the numberplate hanger and indicators.

    We also expect a lot of modern tech to be there on the new Triumph Rocket III in addition to the brute force. An IMU that handles the traction control, cornering ABS and multiple rider modes is expected in addition to a full TFT dash with multi-mode displays, and Bluetooth connectivity with GoPro and Google Maps enabled. The lighting will probably be LED with DRLs and who knows, we may even see cruise control, launch control and keyless ignition too!

    Although most of these are speculations unless we have an official confirmation, we would definitely love to see the Diavel and the Rocket III trading blows in what will be a very exciting heavyweight contender match.
