Thumbs up The TVS Creon (electric scooter) might be set to be unveiled on 25 Jan, '20.

    The TVS Creon!

First shown in the 2018 Auto Expo, The Creon might just be set for a launch to face the Bajaj Chetak.

TVS Motor Company has released a teaser video for its premium electric scooter. The Bajaj Chetak rival is set to be unveiled on 25th of January.

Presently, we can't be totally sure its Creon only. But, if its actually Creon, we can expect a properly premium product with sporty intentions. The concept was underpinned by an aluminium perimeter frame supported by telescopic front suspension and an eccentrically mounted rear monoshock.
The scooter might emerge as one of the most powerful in its class. A lithium-ion battery pack with an estimated range of 80 km is expected to be on-board.

The TVS e-scooter will face the Ather 450 and Bajaj Chetak. Both its rivals are currently available only in handful of cities with Bangalore being the common market. TVS may also opt to follow a similar phase-wise approach and ramp up its presence as the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure takes shape.

As a concept, the scooter also sported front petal disc with ABS, LED headlight, fully digital instrument console, reverse mode, geo fencing, navigation, etc. which are expected, and we expect to see 4G connectivity& a smarter console.

Like its primary rivals, the TVS electric scooter will receive subsidy under FAME-II scheme. Expect the price tag to a shade over INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nice contemporary design though I don't like the headlight positioning and I don't see the indicators. Looking at this it should cost quite a handful, cosidering the embellishments which may take it out of the way of most aspiring crowd.
I don't understand why they cannot make a scooter which is bare minimum functional with electric drive, they should keep the costs down and try not to make it glamorous.

For a concept displayed in 2018, I guess it must've changed by now. As for the indicator, I guess the vertical line on the headlamp's right is the indicator?

I agree with you but even the bare minimum electric Scooter also will cost a lot sadly.
Its mostly due to the nature of its components for now. The Li Ion battery itself is about Rs. 35000 for the basic 70 km/ charge & 70 kmph setup. Then, the controller, the electronics also need research which increases their cost. The brushless DC motor used in most such vehicles is one of the most expensive types of the DC motors for all its advantages.
And this is just the engine, now include the frame and everything else.

The challenge is to make a 2 wheeler EV for Rs. 75000 complete (Factory cost including indirect costs like salaries for everyone, the common and the rare talent) and leave some amount for corporate costs, marketing, dealer commission, company profit, etc. (specially with low sales volume products like EV's)

Maybe the Fiber outer body and all, if replaced with a bare basic outer body, might save about Rs. 5000 or so from the cost at best. ABS systems are cheaper now, but most companies wouldn't dare launching a Scoot without ABS now. The smart console, we all know how android mobiles are priced... so removing them won't help much, not to mention removing the precious machine learning potential (its more of a company learning though).

And its still easier to market a ₹1.1 Lakh all inclusive setup, than a ₹ 95k bare basic scooter with shiny novelties missing...

Within 3 years from now, costs will go down due to Economies of Scale, Li Ion localisation (Tata Chemicals in Gujarat), other battery improvements, etc. But for now, no one quite has a choice.

    Let's hope things go well...
