All the brake fluids, brake hoses should ideally be replaced. And the clutch serviced and checked once ( hydraulic system ). The injectors, throttle bodies should all be checked, and the silencer checked for signs of rusting if any..

The tyres and battery should be replaced, and if you really wanna go over the top, then the front fork oils/rear mono shock oils etc.

You are good to go without the suspension work, but the tyres and battery have to go.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

    - KTM Duke 200
    - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

I wonder what would be the price of a used 2008 honda1000r without any warranty.
I say confirm the warranty with Honda, negotiate as much as possible, get the bike checked from an independent superbike mechanic, cross your fingers, and go for it.

The one for sale? No, I haven't.

Have ridden another 1000R though - for exactly 4.4 kilometres - My friend's quite finicky about people riding his bike

Thats a sweet deal since you are getting new rubber and batteries, service and warranty. Try and haggle a wee bit more before making a down payment.

Why the thought of letting this pass?
ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

There is absolutely no harm in thinking about the deal again bro, if you arent sure get some superbike owner with a few years experience with you and check the bike thoroughly. Thats a really great Ex showroom price for a litre class bike.

When you are getting warranty, new battery, new tyres and everything with a bill for 6 lakh INR ex showroom, give it a second thought.

Ask the dealer to let your buddy owning the same bike to ride for a few kms to check for anything abnormal. It was a Fireblade , it would have been gone by now.

I know its a good deal. Breaks my heart to let it pass. Just some developments on the work front over the weekend - I'm being asked to work out of the Singapore office. Haven't really decided yet for keeps, but I don't want to buy this and then leave it here for a year. Worst thing is, I still dont know if I'll finally go for the Singapore thing or not. Bad timing - that's what this is.
