    hi guys
does anyone own a supersport riding positioned bike (any) in the hill stations???
i have heard a lot of people saying its a really really really bad idea of keeping a supersports in the hills
wanted to know if anyone has gone through it and what their experience was owning it
    getting a good deal on a cbr600rr 2008 and a daytona 675 2012
i am from sikkim and the roads here are not that bad..(potholes)
but the hills and canyons is what im worried about

I have taken my fat Gixxer to the Hills, a place named Manali in Himachal a few time and it was out of its comfort zone. It was not only the road or the pot holes or the inability to take the lesser beaten track in case of rains but the riding position that is not conducive for extensive hill riding.
Super sports are very light so they are much easier to handle but conversely the riding position is even more extreme.
You ll actually have to take it for a long spin to see if it works for you.
Personally, if you not into riding much get it. For everything else better options are available.

Your better off with a bike like a gs and tiger in the hills, weight might be an issue but these sort if bikes are perfect for our potholed ridden and bad roads you talk about , versys 650 or the incoming vstrom650

I have been a member of XBhp for a long time now.. and I often browse the forum whenever I get time. Please note that my question may be OT
I've been eyeing on Z900 for quite a time. I stay in Pune and originally belong to Bhopal. Now the problem is that in Pune the Z900 costs roughly 10lacs whereas in Bhopal/Indore it's more than a lac cheaper. I just wanted to know is there a way I can purchase (if I do ) the bike from my hometown and get it to Pune without riding it (the distance is 900km)? How expensive can it get to get the bike here? Is it possible to purchase the bike in Pune and get it registered in MP without actually taking the bike there? What are the legal obligations? What will be the road tax here and If I pay the road tax will that be enough to ride a bike from another state? Or is it better to buy the bike in Pune?
I know my questions might sound stupid but there is not much information available online regarding this.

I'm not sure if I agree with the popular sentiment here.

People buy Supersports for racetracks, because they are light and flickable. Arent mountain roads basically the same?

@hyperretard - Race track and hill riding are two completely different scenarios. In-fact apart from the fact that they both will have twists and turns there is nothing in common. He will not be red lining in every corner and go all out on every little spin he intends to take. Yes, the super sports is light and flick-able but very very uncomfortable. Also, there are pot holes, mud , sand , gravel , water and broken patches. Everything that the super sport does not like.

Well,, its a decision that you have to make, my friend.

I'd get a supersport if I lived in the hills. Just like if I lived in the twisties, I'd have bought an R15 instead of my AS200.
IMHO, makes sense. Google Mulholland riders for supersport riding on the streets.

The snake section of the Mullholland Highway that you are referring to is nothing like the hills we have in India. The entire 1 lap from the bottom to the top at the snake that the riders and drivers frequent takes only about 2 minutes and 15 seconds before they turn back to go uphill again. Also, the quality of the Mulholland Highway is equivalent to the newly constructed expressways we have and not the roads we have in our hills. So, I really dont see any similarity that can be replicated here in India.
OT but I have done the Snake once. It is like a close circuit road only that it is not closed and has speed restrictions. I was very careful at the dreaded Edwards corner though. Thrilling experience to say the least.
