Default The Boss returns: rebuilding 1991 suzuki shogun

I learnt to ride on a suzuki shogun and have ever since been in love with two strokes. I owned one for good six years before I gave it to my mech/tutor.

About a week back while on a short ride towards a place called peradoor I stopped by house and have a look at something... more like plants on a bike. The curious me decides to get a closer look. What I see next, just amazes me but a part of me gets extremely angry.

What lied beneath the weeds was a suzuki shogun. Surprised, shocked and pissed I continue with my ride. All the while thinking about the bike. Half way on my ride I decided that I needed that bike and I had to own it

On my return ride, I stopped again and spoke to the house owner. Learnt the reason for the bike being in that condition and it was sad. I request the man for the keys and he happily obliged. After four kicks the bike started. I was surprised that it did looking at its condition.

Spoke to the gentleman about it a little more and expressed my interest in the bike and offered to buy it. He just didn't agree to it, I gave him my no. and asked him to call me if he ever changed his mind. A few days back I got a call and he said okay.

So yesterday morning I go there and buy this legend of a machine. Though the engine seemed to start, I need to open it and check it out. Also body is in one of the worst shapes ever possible. I plan a two stage restoration where the body work, painting and assembly I shall do in udupi, where the bike currently is and the second part of working on the engine I shall do it back in blore where I live, as it shall be easier to source the parts. A lot of work ahead but I hope to get this machine back to it's glory.

A pic of the bike in its current state:

Experts i need some help here.... as far as i can recall, the Suzuki shogun was launched in 1993, but the rc on this bike says 1991

i am super confused and a little worried too, not that it changes my plan in any manner but still it would be better to have my facts straight.

The front forks are silver in color like in Samurai and the tail piece also is from Samurai.

You can PM "oldfox" sir to get exact details. He had a Shogun. Guess he has it still now. Else, @psr sir must be knowing it well.

BTW, read through this - Suzuki Shogun. - Team-BHP
Might give an idea of where to get spares.

One more thing, shogun/shaolin/ax100/samurai/fiero ALL share the same clutch.

List of people you must consult:
Yamdoot, satish, Bigbore, JD, Sriramefunds, arvindraju, vampire, Sunnyboi, psycho98, psr, powertwin, Karthikdattag.

    Sorry If I missed anyone!

Thanks a lot for the info divya bhai, been glued to that and other shogun threads here too, for the past two days.

I already got the clutch and front brakes sourced. right now i have completely dismantled the bike (minus engine) and am having a look at what can be salvaged, things don't look good so far though plan to get the tank and chassis painted asap and here i am confused if i should stick to the original boss color or try something new (shogun aficionados might kill me for even having this thought )

the list of contacts is a true blessing, thanks a mil for that
