Icon7 1997 Yamaha RXG Restoration - Now completed - Pics from Pg 5

I'm not new to this forum, signed-up very recently and this is my very first post (even before the introduction thread)

To give a short introduction, I'm from Coimbatore and currently working in Chennai in a leading automotive OEM.
Currently I own a 2009 Fiat Linea MJD Emotion, 1998 Yamaha RX 135, 1997 Yamaha RXG

RX135 I got a couple of years back and almost completed the Engine rebuild (Restoring it in multiple phases)

    Coming to the point,
RXG (1997 Model, 3 Owners) I got last week and immediately and started the restoration immediately. This bike will be restored to stock spec/look except for the paint theme (Planning to paint it in Blue color)

This is the condition of bike when I got

Stripped down the very next day and sent the frame for sand blasting.

Yesterday procured a lot of spares and only a few were left out (hopefully I will get them before next weekend)
Will keep this thread updated frequently.

    All your suggestions are welcome.

this might require a lot of cosmetics what is the condition of the engine?
and in my opinion if u r repainting the tank and panels make sure you get the Original RXG decals/ stickers ..i think they were the best design

Engine is running in 1st OS piston and with some noise from Connecting Rod. Will be going with 2nd OS piston, new Connecting rod and bearings.
Regarding decals, this bike will not be in stock theme. Planning to paint it in bright blue color with RXZ decals (the one came with blue RXZ) + RX135 side shield monogram.

Good to see the restoration initiated.

Looking onto its rusted conditions, looks like the bike was lying from a long time.
Suggest start the job to get the powerplant right first thing, rather than looking into the cosmetics.

Start looking for the condition of crank cases for any cracks or other sort of distortion. You may never know how the previous owners had used it.

How is the condition of the fuel tank interior ?
Suggest to go for a new tank (you may want to change your color schemes though). A new tank will keep your powerplant healthy.

Where are you planning to get the re-bore job done ?

    Thanks dude.
Yes, the bike was lying unused for about 6 months (in a open space, outside garage)
Already stripped the engine completely and confirmed there is no crack / damage in crank case. Fuel tank was replaced by the previous owner, checked and found it is in perfect condition.

Regarding engine work, I don't know the exact location. My previous RX135 reboring was done somewhere at pallavaram (my regular mechanic taken the bore there and done the job) and I'm quite satisfied with the quality of their job. So planning to stick to the same source now. Let me get the details from my mechanic and update here.

Thank you very much for the suggestions and looking forward for more suggestions / help.

Experts, need your advice. (please don't kick me after reading this question)

I wish to increase the acceleration without compromising the top speed.
Calculator inside my mind said go with RX100 sprocket (15/39 instead of stock RXG spec 15/37) This increases the drive ration by 5.43%
Now the calculator made some stupid calculations and said chain the 4th gear ratio same as 5th gear in 5 speed GB spec (22/24 instead of 23/23)

    Will this workout?

Bring to stock condition first & then think about doing the mods.

If you want to increase acceleration without compromising top speed, stay off from sprocketing - THIS IS BASICS

Just asking out of curiosity, are you feeling very desperate to complete the job or do you think there aren't enough experts around so as to start a thread here as well as Restoration - 1997 Yamaha RXG - Team-BHP

Hope nothing wrong with that. You missed my posts in some other forum too. There are quite a lot of experts in each forum who may not be member/active members in other forum.
I suppose each and every suggestion may add some value unless and until there is a conflict.
