I was chatting with my mechanic last Friday. Apparently the weather doesnt matter now. They paint the parts, put it in the 'oven', set the temperature and duration. Thats it. He claims entire thing takes just 7-8hours. Only the painting I mean. Getting the bike back is solely the discretion of the workshop

@ Vasanth - No the RXK Kit is not a "direct" fit. At least as far as I know.

Default Decided to get meself an RX again.

    Guys,

After getting the FZs my biking sprit has really rekindled and now I am determined to assemble a stable of the motor cycles I adore and practically afford to own. So the bigger plan is to get an R15 and in the short term to get an RX cos since I sold my 98 135 I ve felt a void that has not filled and as this is a second bike I would like to make a few mods on her nothing over the top and have a few questions about this? Some experts please do advise. Here's what's goin on my mind:

    1) Want to get a 3.25 * 16 rear and 3.00 * 18 front tyres and I wanna get Knobby ones, so what is the best brand of tyre for this? I am thinking this should improve the road grip to a great extent and would be great in off road dirt conditions.

    2) Gas filled shocks. Which bike's gas shocks do you guys think can fit the Rx?

    3) Front Disk brakes - Again which bike's can i get it off? Are the RXZ's disk break assembly still available?

And to use a sprocket with a tooth less to shorten the gearing and increase its low end and Mid like a dirt bike.

Inputs on these would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance guys.

Good to know that you are happy you sourced the jets your self so that made work easier, once the filter gets dirty the sound will reduce, but don't even think of adding any box or blah blahhh you will screw your engine, that's all i can say..

Post the plug pics here based on that we will decide to go higher on jetting or not, you are rite now on 185 mains with needle position at center.

185 on a stock 4 speed with UNI is gonna be rich.

Put the UNI inside the airbox, you won't even be able to hear it. If you can't figure out how to do that, come over to my place along with pradeep some day.

    Default RX 135 Spark Plug

Spark Plug - what does yam recommend for the 135? Suggest you don't use something like BPR7HS/BPR7HGP if something like W5BC is recommended.
Why do you say Mico instead of NGK for RX 135? I had some problem related to engine not starting or the spark plug faulting everytime I drive out for a day. The Spark Plug becomes think carbon. After changing them/cleaning them... could not take it any more. Then visited Yamaha Service and they suggested that to use NGK instead Mico as it won't last.

When I was running issues for some time... in between had changed once to Mico and found to be good. After the service now I have NGK stock one.

    I'm currently going through agony

    Its RX 135 - 1998 - 4 speed:

Changed to new bore/piston : The engine sounded like new after that.. I felt very happy.

It was going on fine... until I noticed that there was a considerable drop in mileage..

So went to Yamaha service guy.. he said would like into and asked me to come later so that he can devote spl attention..

In meanwhile, I was using my bike normally, suddenly one day while driving it stopped. Check fuel and it was there. Not sure what went wrong, took it to nearby mechanic and he said that there is a dense carbon deposit with oil on the spark plug blew up.

Then he changed to Mico as a standby I thought have no choice as it was getting late in the evening.

The engine roared back to life. Went home.

After few days again faced the same issue. Another mechanic in that particular area said due to excess oil flow the spark plug faulted. Again changed it.

Then went to Yamaha Service, he then checked and said we need to change the ignition coil, CDI and Spark Plug, oil seal etc. Spent 1.5K.

The bike started to behave properly and thought to my self finally misery ended.

Today, misery surfaced but this time the engine did not die, however, it kinda blocking when throttled. The area where I driving spotted the mechanic and aked him to clean the spark plug. He did, then took a test ride, he came back stating that we need to check CDI and starting coil.. I said boss Ignition coil and CDI has been replaced newly.

He said might be the starting coil or need to check the wiring for any earthing issue.

Then thought to myself, this is endless, I have been having this bike for 11 years and last few weeks battling almost every day. I was trying to think back as what on earth. I have invested so much that could not think of any reliable mechanics to leave my bike.

It is really depressing that I could drive anymore, went home parked the bike.

I would like experts to share thoughts on the issue faced and also suggest if W5BC can be used for my bike as against the yamaha Service's advise.

    Help! Help!!

^^^ Because NGK India does not import non resistor spark plugs. If your bike's recommended plug is non resistor type, then stick to that. Which spark plug is recommended in your manual? Won't comment further until you tell me that...

Have you ruled out badly adjusted oil pump and carb?
