Thank you . Yeah exactly - it just reminded me of Wayanad in many sections.
BTW the RR is up there too

Great photos and really interesting stuff!

Congrats on your marriage and for being lucky to ride in the US? Btw how did you manage the licence! Have you been living there for a long time?
    Thanks,

Nice ride Ashwin. You seem to have taken to the US roads on a bike a lot faster than I did. Keep the logs coming

Sorry Ken - I two weeks have been completely bussy in office. Last weekend went for a car drive too. I found another look alike of Banasura Sagar (wayanad) in US. This country is giving me surprises - never knew it had these good scenic places to offer. Will post some pics on that later.

Thank you. I love yamaha since i rode the RX. It increased when I rode FZ16 - I love it than my ZMA other than the power/ground clearance/.

With FZ6 it has even gone much higher. But only two things i didnt like on bike is It generates lot of heat. It was blowing hot hair special on my left leg.
second i thought it would be more refined but was not the case. Nothing to complain but its not very refined engine. I dont know how other big bikes are.
Why one did u opt ?

    Day 3 The long Day

This state has some beautiful scenic highways with some awesome roads. I wanted to drive through some scenic drives. I wanted to ride Pig Trail and Highway 7 Scenic Drive. This time I decided not to trust completely on GPS. So took the map and studied the route. The main confusion I had is, here is US all routes are marked based on North South East West. Since in Indian we are used to take left or right at any junction it took some time to get adjusted. But the highways are very well marked with sign boards, it was just that I was not used to it.

    Good Morning !

By 3rd day we were quick to pack the tents and sleeping bags. If you dont do it correctly, we might end up spending lot of time if there is air inside while folding it. Now we both can setup a tent in 3-5 mins. From mount magazine we started by 8 AM.

    All set

We did the Pig Trail first then Joined the Highway 7. You wont believe Pig Trail was just like the ride through the wayanad forest with some better roads and some good twisties.

Now talking about FZ on Ghat section , I wast going on 5th or 6th most of the time did had to downshift with out compromising on acceleration. The needed torque was always there. And remember we are two up with fully loaded [tents/sleeping bag/saddle/tank bag]. By third day I was fully confident on bike and was no more nervous to lean the bike on 60 mph. To be frank it would have me more fun with out a pillion. I had tow risk in my mind my dear pillion and the $s I have to spend if case of even a small fall. But today I decided to keep that thought way and not to miss any opportunity on any curves.

Deepthi is nervous on Curves but she stayed cool and didnt complain even once. The bike is Dream on the Curves with those wide tires it was soo easy to get in and get out as close to the road safely. The seating position is more over same as ZMA didnt feel any difference at all. The difference is I have 70 + bhp more than my ZMA

There were lots of bikers on these routes. In fact these routes are for bikers. Harleys where like pulsars, can see every now and then. Havent spoted any GS. But during one of our brakes I could hear two bikes revving and approaching. It was a BMW and Duke they just zipped passed through the corners. Man I really got Goosebumps. They were fast, close , and brilliant on corners. It just reminded me and Vinal doing Bangalore-Calicut quick run. These guys where with full riding gears. On Harleys you can see mostly uncles or aunties riding. I have seen people riding just with a boots, jean and sun glass. There are all kind of riders mostly in a group.

    Look who is posing

Note: she has a riding jacket - not wearing for the pic

Rest of the day log will post later

Wow, red t-shirt, red bike, she is looking good. Thank god you make her wear a riding jacket.

Any photos of the curves that you took at 96kmph?

So you mean to say that these HD riders ride without riding gear, without helmet, but they have jeans and riding boots!!!

    Thanks for the 3rd day!

Thanks- she is not comfortable wearing it but i force her to wear.
Unfortunately i haven't taken a single pic of the curvy roads in the entire trip.
Not even that i have taken very less pics in 3 days ride. Reason being in

Texas temperature is quite high 34 + - it is damn hot and bright. Then we avoided stops because of the luggage and more over most of the roads are not wide just 2 lane so there is no shoulder space to stop. Once we stopped to set GPS route -a cop stopped by in car to check if we had a bike problem. Usually dont see any one stopping on road sides. So we did stop very often.

I might have some videos from my GO Pro HD Cam - which is another thing i messed up in the trip. Bought it just a day before the trip - didn't charge it thinking it has full charge since it was indicating so .

So lot of places wanted to take snaps but couldn't do. 65- 70 is the speed limit so there is no question of slowing down or stopping. A whole lot of cars will follow you in case you slow down. Because there are "No passing zones"- which means one cant overtake in that road for some distance , just have to keep going.

Another rule Helmet is not mandatory here. So most of the people dont even wear it. There are ppl on HD who is fully geared, but most of them are in just jean and t-shirt - sun glass - and some without shirt too. Boots as in regular boots cow boy style - not riding ones. You wont believe there was one lady with pillow as well. she was a pillion..

ok here she is. You can also see on guy on the right corner with the cap. I believe thats his helmet

Good you force her. Safety first.

It is unbelievable to see a pillion with a pillow!!!

Ok, I figure it must be tough to stop in these countries if there is no shoulder space.

And more over we wont feel like getting of the bike in such great roads-
And on dont have to worry about incoming traffic even on even on a sharp corner.Every one follows the rule - you can almost trust that no one is gonna cross the yellow line and give you a surprise from the opposite side.

Even since i tlaked about riding a bike in US every one warned me its very dangerous to ride here - since its a fast moving traffic. I felt its much much safe to ride here. Since there are not much bikes all other vehicles give us enough space and they take proper care while passing us

I owned a VFR800 and a BMW S1000RR over various periods in the last 4 years. Ridden the usual R1s and other sportbikes during my short business trips there.

Of them all, I loved the VFR the most And as for the heating/refinement, I wouldn't worry about it.

Those concerns have a lot of justification. Many American motorists ARE NOT accustomed, and sometimes do not check for bikes around them when changing lanes, merging etc. I've had a close shave at least twice, and a few years back, gsferrari had a massive accident due to an negligent car driver merging into his path.

As for the yellow lines, many car drivers that I've noticed in Tennessee, California, Ohio, and Texas do not always follow the yellow line. Some drift slowly onto the lines and pull it back. So watch out

I make it a point to honk while changing lanes, and if I see a car merging ahead of me. Better to be loud and angry than dead

Sorry for the above OT. Back to the ride and logs
