Default 3 days 200km 1 bone broken.. ouch

update on my biking experience --

was actually doing quite well... good with balance, gearshifting, braking, bending and turning, etc.etc.. drove down to city on GT Road a bit too with no probs.. and then for no apparent reason i turned onto a really bad road in a construction area on campus... dont recall exactly how it happened, but involved skidding off lotsa tiny pebbles and sand, a huge pothole, bike falling down and me flying off and landing on my left arm which unfortunately broke... heres the xray :-) http://home.iitk.ac.in/student/udai/xrayboth.jpg

ironically ,it wasnt that bad a skid/fall coz neither me nor bike was really scratched (just some on legguard, speedo housing, and a bent left legrest).. but i fell badly.. :-( called galeazi fracture... common one among skateboarders esp...need a metal plate to be put next week..lucky that right hand's ok.. oh well

what really is bad is that i cant bike for a while now...

so what to do with bike..?. its abt 270km... in a hostel environ its quite difficult to avoid letting noone use the bike.. there are two froends who i fully trust will follow the 60kmph, 4000rpm thing atleast 98% of the time , and are good riders...so one thing is that i let these guys keep using the bike till i get better, so that it gets run in atleast.. and all the time isnt wasted...

but people say that its best to let noone else use it coz even the gears should be bedded down acc to u... in this situatiom, should this be fact be imp enough so that i dont allow
neone to use? or do i compromise on this aspect... coz as it is, i'm new and dont really have a well defined shifting style, and there will be times where having abike will be very useful otherwise for actual work over the next few weeks/months (classes, hospital, etc, etc)

    what do u say??

    thanks

    udai

hey thats really sad man.. take proper care.. as for the bike, if u can trust ur friend then i think u can let them complete the runin but then again its entirely upto u coz i wud have never given it to ne1 even in such condition, not b'coz of all the runin stuff but that i didn't allow neone to touch ma bike before the 1st service, een the pillion were forced to sit properly or walk..

hey welcome to the club!!i had an accident in december while i was on a long drive and had to get a plate fixed unluckily on my wrist joint that too the right hand,,doc says no more biking,,i started driving a month back though,,but not my CBZ cos the riding position wud harm my hand,,been driving the car daily and sometimes my friend's enticer cos its easier on the hand..
ur fracture looks painful,,but u r lucky cos its not on the joints..better stick to the physiotherapy sessions after the operation,,
but if u have a pulsar then i wud advise u to take it easy cos the riding position on the pulsar is almost the same,,i.e. the handle bars give an upward pressure,,my advise wud be to sell of ur bike,,save money and buy the eliminator or enticer,,,else eventually ur pals will ask for the idle bike...btw it would take a good two months to recover..
take care and get well soon

    hi,
ouch painfull to see the xrays. I had a bad fall about 2 months bad in which my wrist was almost unusable for 1 week. I DID not go to the doc even. I could move the wrist slowly so noting was broken i was quite sure of that. Its 2 months Pain is gone but the swelling still STAYS ! and now i realised that I will have to see the doc for treatement. Actually it might have been a hairline fracture which dint heal up well ive lost power in the wrist. I used to drive around and still do. The way ive lost power is i cant do pull ups nor push ups in the gym which i used to do @ first.
    you take care of urself.

    ADVISE
    ------
I advise u to give the bike to ur friends for riding and not selling it off now.

Incase doc says u cant ride then only sell it off !

Do as the doc says and do the exercises regularly if given.

    Speedy Recovery to u !
I have no money 2 buy a Comet ,So I jus stare @ da sky 2 look out for a fallin one !
