  • Rain Ride to OOty

My Friend had got his RE 350 a month ago and we wanted to ride together. The place going to be Ooty. Thursday I check Weather.com and the forecast for weekend was "clear sky".When we start Saturday morning from Bangalore its cloudy through out and when we reach Gudalur it starts to rain.It was supposed to be 4 riders finally my friend & colleague Ashwin only turned out. Nevertheless truly enjoyed riding in rain, it was biting cold though out hardly any visibility while coming back as we took the Masinagudu route.

    Riders : Ashwin & myself
    Bikes : Duke & RE 350 classic
    Distance covered : 630kms
    fuel cost : Rs 1200
    Trip cost : Rs 2200

    Here are few teasers
    Rest after approval.

Thanks for approval & thanks to all who liked the teaser dear fellow Bikers.
Travelling has been my childhood passion. Whether its by car by Bike or my cycle some times when I go for groups rides with fellow cyclist. I just like to get lost in the woods and keep wandering. This trip I was planning since 2-3 months. I never imagined it will be cloudy and raining there. As they say Ooty is the queen of Nilgiris. I have been to Munnar, I have been to Kodaikanal. Ooty is something special. Many people told the place has been more commercialised and is not clean. But to my surprise I found the city very neat & organised.Sign boards to every where to reach popular picnic places.I found a litter free road so neatly kept.In spite of this weather I found lots of people from all over the country visiting this place. I cant imagine how many people will be visiting during summer. Surely will plan to take my family during that time.I never imagined riding in rains but surely enjoyed. The great joy of uncertainties being unplanned & taking life as it comes, adapt to situation & dance in the rain instead of complaining about weather

            Day1:
4 Riders planned & only 2 tuned out expected start time was 5:30 am from Gopalan Arch Mall on mysore road but was able to start by 6:00 am only.My co-rider Ashwin being new comer , he was a bit slow starter but later picked up speed. Surprisingly less traffic on mysore Road on a saturday.Everything was surprise.Reached Kamat after Chennapatna by 7:20. Finished breakfast and started towards mysore .Made mistake by taking the ring road to reach Ooty road it was a long long way.Better go thru city. The stretch from Mysore to Nangingud being a single lane was busy with lots of lorries. Our next destination was Gopalaswamy betta. I was visiting this place for 5th time since my 1st visit here in 2001.By then there was no check-post no restrictions. Now lots of restrictions .I was told we have to return back in 1:50 time.We stopped @ my favorite place for some clicks with our Steeds.

As we reached Masinagudi to our surprise rain had vanished with cloudy weather.Had lunch @ one of the hotels in Bandipur and continued our Journey to Bangalore thru Mysore. As usual Mysore road was crowded with lot of traffic. As we reached Mysore sky was clear with bright sunshine. All our riding gear had dried by this time Reached home by 6:15 pm. Truly enjoyed every bit of this ride.
Once again thank you for reading this blog. Hope this will be useful for fellow Bikers.
