Red face Voyage - 1840CCs goes Lansdwone

“Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.” – Seneca

After we did the Ranikhet trip, we had the itch to ride again in the hills and without much thought Lansdowne was the place decided and the weekend of 20-21st October was planned for the ride at our Dhabha which was made concrete with a plate of Al-Beg’s showrma.

    So it was
    Bishal(Devilish) – RTR160
    Siddhartha(Sid85) – CBR250
    Shekhar with pillion(t-bone) – CBR600RR
    Shiwaan(shiwaan) – RTR180 ABS
    Ankush(vpanditv) – Pulsar220
    Sandeep(titanic4u) – CBR250
    Yours truly – RTR180
who agreed for weekend ride, whereas
    Lakshit(lakshit1914) – R15
    Prashant(rawat092) – RTR180
Decided to come on Sunday and return same day with the group.

Another reason for the ride was that Bishal was shifting to Hyderabad and after his return from Abu Dhabhi he was noty able to go to the Ranikhet ride and we wanted to ride with him.

    DAY 1 :
I, Shiwaan and Siddhartha were at Bishal’s place the night before the ride so that we should not be late. We all met at Mohan Nagar (G.T Road) at 4.30 and started a little late around 5.15am. And then everything that happened was a series of unplanned things. By mistake we took the by-paas for NH 58 which is 70kms long route, as soon as we crossed Najibabad city my RTR’s chain became very loose as my chain set was in its last stage. We took a 1.5hour halt there under the shade of a tree and got new chain set and engine oil for my bike. Siddhartha got a can of oil for his CBR as we could see that his engine oils was dropping from somewhere near the filling cap. We started again crossed Kotdwar and reached Lansdwone at around 5pm.

Then we were unable to get any good hotel as most of them were booked or could not accommodate 8 people, so we decided the tried and tested place of Tip n Top and we could get 3 rooms for us.

As soon as we reached there, it was too much cold and as I was suffering from fever for the last 3 days, it made me very weak but I could not let others change anything due to this so I had energy drink and medicines during the trip. The temperature was quite low than what we expected but then our riding jackets came to our rescue. We freshened up and decided to have a small party there.

We had our dinner , then around 12 in night everyone surprised me by a cake that they managed from the Lansdwone market for me as my birthday was on Monday, the 22nd. It was actually quite surprising for me as I never expected. I actually felt good as I never celebrate my birthday but this time being with my close friends. It was their plan since the very starting of the trip. We had cake cutting and face painting ceremony in my room (I am still smiling while writing this).

Wonderful beginning of the write-up Prat. Let me add up.

It was the second trip for me since I bought CBR in August and both of the rides to the hills - Ranikhet and now Lansdowne. Hills are really addictive. Since Ranikhet was my first ride to hills, I was a little apprehensive but in Lansdowne I was a little more comfortable with the corners, so I was enjoying. Though the roads were narrower than those in Ranikhet and also had gravel in them, we had to be extra careful. I am getting addicted to hills with every ride. The climate in Lansdowne was awesome pleasant in morning and cold in he night. Would have loved to stay there a little long but had time constraint.

Rest of the story would come up in installments.

    Default lansdowne Trip

now let me update Sid and prat .i was very excited when i drove out of my house i was thinking in my mind about riding with my Fellow xbhpians and some good friends and an Elder Brother .I started from Gurgaon to bishal's house ,we friends have activated Google latitude in our smart phones so that we all should able to see and catch-up when we have to so i followed prateek bhai’s route and reached to him then we had allo ka parahtha and banana shake in noida sec 59 and then we drove back to bishal bhai’s house then me bishal and prateek started talking and then we had a power nap till Sid reached to bishal bhai’s house then we all geared up and had gone to mohan nagar from there we started our journey with everybody and in the trip i learned hell a lot of things ...............how to ride properly and safely in group ride although i was a bit excited did some mistakes also but there was a guy who was there observing me a correcting me with hi humble talks and after plains we reached in hills there i was in love with the roads and the cornering...............although i was a bit alert also as is was my first ride in group and in hills too ..................but i enjoyed the ride as we were there we had in mind about prateek bhai's bday on 22 Oct. so we decided to celebrate it on Saturday night we had awesome talks about ghosts in prateek's room where we all were listening to shekhar's experiences his friend got scared there on the next day I woke up late as I was tired and after on hour lakshit and prashant came to our place we all gathered & freshen up gone there for photographs visited a church and a lake there and then we came back to our rooms geared up and picked our bags and then started ride back to our home it was approx. 2 pm in the afternoon when we left Lansdowne and then the heck a ride started because driving down a hill it is a different experience and I was like crazy that time to lean on the corners because I don’t when I will be having such an experience again. After we crossed hills in plain roads we all we going smoothly then we suddenly noticed Sid and bishal I missing then a guy was crossing us he said your had an accident then we all run rode our bikes to find Sid and bishal and I was having very strange feeling when I was riding back to find Sid and bishal then I finally found them …till then Sid managed to get by himself his front disc got Locked just when he applied brakes and then he fell off the bike thanks to his riding gear which saved hi and then lakshit and prashant were getting late …so we moved on and then around 7 pm shekhar bike’s battery exhausted but some how he managed to start his bike and then they all rode fast to come back and then me bishal Sid and prateek were behind all others we were hungry so we said them carry on and then we had our dinner around 9 pm in somewhere in outer Meerut where out friend asif catch-up with us we all had a great dinner and then we came back to our homes
although we all got late while coming and going back but we all enjoyed specially prateek cake cutting ceremony and those ghost experiences on shekhar ……….in love with hills now and looking forward to have more trips with them If these guys find me a riding material……..love u Guys

    DAY 2 :
The day started with me in fever as usual, Bishal woke me up and it was indeed difficult to come out of that warm quilt, but he asked me just to have a peek outside. I had a glance and jumped out of the bed with my camera. It was 6.15am in the morning, quite cold. It was me , Bishal, Siddhartha and Ankush who enjoyed clicking the beauty of the place with the rising Sun….and honestly the words that I write here are not enough to justify the beauty we saw there.

We clicked quite few pics and then started planning for the rest of the day. Another good part of the morning was that there were a group of sweet and cute looking girls were there, and we all know how boys behave when we see these beautiful creations.

Another reason to roam around them was that since last night our most orders for food or tea were delivered at room number 4 where the girls were staying.
In the mean time Lakshit and Prashant arrived making the 1840cc to 2170cc. We all had breakfast and then went to pay a visit to the church which was closed and then to the lake where we had some clicks. But trekking back to the hotel was tiresome. Shiwaan and Ankush were with me who helped me in my high temperature to reach the hotel.

As soon as we reached hotel, we geared up and started our journey back to home. The next incidents and experience is written by Shiwaan so I would like to stop here and will start posting the pics now on.

The first part that I put up said about my feeling about my ride to Lansdowne and the rest of the incidents in summary. Here comes the detailed story.

    Preparation for the ride :
The planning for this ride began just after the Ranikhet ride. The reason being Bishal(Devilish) could not join us for the Ranikhet trip due to some personal commitments. Though we were planning a ride in November, when the news came in that Bishal will have to shift back to Hydrabad due to office work. So we had to pre-pone this ride to make it in October. Earlier the destination was Auli but lack of time made change the destination to Lansdowne.I was happy about it because any whichways Lansdowne was in my list of touring destinations. Now when we knew Bishal would leave, this ride became all the more important since we wanted to bid him farewell through a memorable ride. Earlier it was just me, Prateek, Bishal & Shekhar who wanted to ride but when we discussed the plan publicly at dhaba Ankush, Shiwaan and Sandeep joined in. Pawan was out this time due to medical reasons. Lakshit did not get permission to get out of town for 2 days on a bike. So he decided to join us in Lansdowne on Sunday with Prashant.

This was the preface for the ride. Next chapter coming up soon.
