Default Stress buster ride to a hidden lake: Mallela Theertham....

Me: "Sir, I need a break. This application process is killing me. I need a ride."
Vinfred: "Ok. But where. Don' tell me we are riding again to Pocharam or Nizamsagar."
Me: "Nope. This time we ll ride to a hidden lake. A bit of off-roading and 350 steps of trek. Also, we have reservoir just before the lake. "
Vinfred: "Kya. Off-roading on Ninja and R15."
Me: "Ohh I forgot. We ll be riding mostly in ghat section before the falls. Sexy twisties and than secluded Nallamala forest section."
Vinfred: "Now you are talking. Let's go"

As once a Confucius who blogged about "how riding heals", I have been a strong believer of healing power of riding. And this ride was intended for just enough adrenaline boost for me to replenish and get back to daily chores. This ride had it all. Hone your cornering skills on the twisties, go through serene forest area, ride a bit on off -road and trek your heart out while returning back.

This was the route map of our ride.

    A brief preview...

Will post the details and lots of photos once the thread is alive

    Thanks Monk

So we started early morning(5 AM) from Hyderabad and decided to take the service lane by ORR(via Shamshabad) till we enter Srisailam highway. We didn't expect the kind of chill, riding early morning as Hyderabad is on a little hotter side. We stopped for chai break in first 40 kms itself to evade shivering and let the Sun come out.

Once it was a bit warm and clear we enjoyed our spirited ride and took our major break at Dindi reservoir. Dindi reservoir is a huge reservoir that has it's special charm in Monsoon. Though it was dry in mid Jan, but still it was a good place to take a break, enjoy the beauty and capture the moments.

After this break, we got lucky. We rode through ghat sections with LOTS of sharp curves(and pics will tell the tale )

After the break at Dindi reservoir, we had a gala ride into ghat sections. There were numerous occasions when we wanted to stop and capture the scenic backdrop. But instead, we decided to have ample breaks while retreat. Soon we reached the off-road section before Mallela Theertham. SriSailam range was dry and hot, even in mid Jan.

Here are the pics of the off-road

Ride in monsoon to Dindi reservoir is even more fun

Finally after the scenic off-road stretch of 7 odd kms, we reached Mallela Theertham. Unlike, other AP tourist spots, this one was not maintained properly. There was hardly a stall(operational) for refreshments nor for tickets. Wish, this one comes to the same level as other properly maintained tourism spots in AP.

After, compacting all our riding goodies, we had to trail down 350 steps. While it was fun going downstairs and exploring the beauty, we were not ignorant of daunting task uphill, while returning.

Here are a few pics of Mallela Theertham-

It is told that in summer, tigers come to Mallela Theertham to quench their thirsts.

Even in mid Jan, the waterfall was pretty dry. But it was still very serene and calm down there. We didn't bother to get into water as there were many semi clad folks having bath of their life time. We sat down there, clicked a few pics and enjoyed the beauty of this secluded place. Surprising thing is that, post monsoons, when Mallela Theertham is in full bloom, it's almost impossible to reach there because of the pure seven kilometers of dirt track.

Will post remaining pics of Mallela Theertham, magnetic hill of Srisailam and way back home soon
