Default Sach ke Paas - A photolog

This is not a travelogue. Have lost the enthusiasm to detail experiences nowadays so most of my rides go "un-logged".
Have lost the will to even take out the DSLR. So all of these are from the phone cam - excuse the slightly grainy quality.
This is a photolog of our weekend ride to as far as we could go to Sach Pass - the most challenging pass in Himachal (In my opinion)

    What we ended up doing
Friday evening - Bloody boiling traffic infested ride to Ambala.
    18th May-Saturday - Ambala - Pathankot -Banikhet - Chamba - Koti - Tisa - Bhanjaroo.
19th May-Sunday - Bhanjaroo - Bairagarh - 3km below Sach pass (the road was blocked) - Retrace to Koti - Banikhet (through chamera dam)
20th May -Monday - Blood Boiler near heat stroked retrace to Gurgaon. (Temperatures reached 50 degrees on the highway)
Not a good time for a geared up biker with a touring spec riding jacket.

Note for people going there: If you want to skip dalhousie - khajjiar loop, take the Banikhet - Chamera dam - koti route. The guards at the dam will let bikers through once they have verified your credentials. This saves 12km. Don't go towards Chamba.

These are my pics. I will upload more when my co-riders (Chirag on the avenger and Negi on the pulsar) send me across theirs.

    Enjoy!

    Hills on fire

    Towards the Pass

    Beyond Bairagarh

    The wall of ice

    Some perspective on its size

Few more - towards the pass

    Stony section starts

A frequent occurence, water flowing down the stony path. Was a challenge while descending - what with my ContiGoNowhere CBR tyres.

The blocked road - The workers and their noisy bulldozer were still working up the pass. Expect the pass to open in another 20 days.

My steed - Bootiphul toh hai !

Next set of pics when i get more from my co-riders who shot this awesome looking CBR and its rider negotiating the path with elan

@shardul: If you intend to go, do so after 20 days. Temperatures are supposedly going to cool down by mid june (according to accuweather) and the pass will also be open for traffic.
But yes, snow will be lesser. August is also an awesome time to visit since the whole valley will be very green at that time. Check out yogesh sarkars travelog for that.

    @Mik : great fotos... especially the 2nd & last 5~6 ones.
can understand the lack of enthusiasm part too - allowed hain bhai - hota hain! ;-)
and thank you for the details on the route & the pass - am hearing of this pass for the 1st time & am gonna google a lot on this now - am amused & surprised by the near non-existing tarmac & loose gravel in some of the snaps there.
come to think of it, i often envy u folks who stay up north... so close to the himalayas & always a shout away from stellar mountain passes... jannat for a true biker.
    pls do share more fotos.
    cheers!

Thanks @whymail. Yup, being up north has this distinct advantage that even in the midst of a heat wave, you can ride between walls of ice Does take some effort though to cross the plains and the smaller hills. Even as far as Tisa (170km of hill riding later) and just 55km below the pass - it was warm. Sach Pass has always been challenging and the tarmac ends some 2 hours before the pass.
About the lack of enthu - has had to do with the Curse of Ladakh in my case. After going to ladakh twice, everything else pales in comparison This was the 4th ride of the year and the 3rd where i hit snow, but it all seems just about pretty.
So what do i do to shake off this lack of enthu. Going to ladakh again this year
