    1. look for Teknik motors on Sarjapur road, just about 100mts ahead towards the signal on service road there is an old army shop. (try walking, you might miss it while riding). you get 2 varieties, heavy costs Rs850 and Light one costs Rs950

    2. Its a normal leather jacket bought from Brigade road besides Mota Arcade 2 years back for 4k, now the cost must be around 5.5k (find pics on this post http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...laila-goa.html ) . I would suggest you to go for Riding jacket like Spartan, Cramster etc or if you want Leather, look for RE jackets in Jayanagar RE brand showroom
Be the change you want to see in other Riders!

I use Helios for riding but find it too bulky for daily commute. So am looking for a good perforated leather jacket which can be used in the hot weather 'san the padding and armor. Will check RE out.

Previous day I had received a call from Nakul (Bangalore xbhp member: Newbie101) that he is at his home town near Thrissur and Invited me for lunch at his place. I was more than humbled by this idea because a) This would add more life to my trip, meeting people on the way is so cool. b) Home cooked kerala food, I would love it, yes please c) Nakul had shared pic of his backyard which was a scenic river front. (OMG, I cant miss it).

I woke up at around 6am. I felt like the whole bed is wet, it was just too cold (dont jump into conclusions). I switched on the geyser and checked outside the window. There was thick fog and the place was really cold, that much that I was shivering inside my room. I changed my plan that I will leave by 8:30am, there was no way I could get out in such cold, that too riding. I went back to sleep and woke up at around 8. Got ready and out of the hotel. Immediately, I got on Coimbatore road. Today, I was on schedule, I had to be at Nakul's place for lunch on time, as I wanted to be a good guest.

These curves are so good and so divine, would you keep your eyes on the road or look around, negotiating a good deal of lil road and lil scenary and thumping through them. The other side of ooty was even better, lesser crowd and scenic untouched hills. I really enjoyed riding on this road. On my way I saw the Nillgiri hill train, I crossed the train simultaneously when the train was over the bridge. The tourists were all looking at me and some of them waving hands (one of those proud moment), I rode with my head held higher by an inch. The small towns on the way were pretty too, what a start of the day. It was after this town called "Wellington" things started to get less eventful and traffic started to increase. I should have figured out a bypass for coimbatore, instead entered straight into the city, this gulped a lot of my time, I was already late on my schedule and then I was getting stuck in traffic signals. Somehow, I got out of coimbatore, re-routing multiple times. In this whole exercise, I started to get annoyed and irritated, it took me some time to realize that was the call from my tummy. I am one of those people you don't wanna be with when they are hungry. I stopped by for a tender coconut, I was hoping this would give me good amount of energy to continue riding without many breaks. I also skipped the plan of breakfast as It was already 12 and I was willing to attack kerala home food sooner or later.

Some time later, I entered Kerala, the roads got nicer and I was able to see coconut trees and wide paddy fields. Mood got better, I was feeling like home. Its just that people speak different languages (Karwar/Goa-Kerala), geographically these places are very similar and so are the cuisines. The cuisines are not exactly same, but, the little differences excites me, its mouth watering even while I am writing this.

Nakul had warned me about road conditions till Thrissur and mad bus drivers in Kerala. I was alert the whole time and touchbull I did not had to face any such maniac. For my pleasant surprise, roads were amazing with diversions once in a while but nothing to bother. It was a fresh tarmac, laid maybe a week back. I reached Thrissur at around 2pm. Called Nakul and updated my where abouts, I had to travel till Nedumbassery Airport cross, where I was to meet Nakul. At around 3pm I reached the spot and had a lemon soda which was much needed. Then I followed Nakul's D390 through some tiny(cute) roads till Nakul's home.
Freshened up and on Dining chair, in front of me, Boiled rice, Sambar, curd, Home made pickle(yummy), fried prawns with coconut, prawn head fry and salad. I wanted to do a lil balle balle looking at this but kept myself calm and focused on hogging. I could have had more of prawns, but considering what it does to your body and I had a long ride ahead of me with god knows what condition, I had to say enough. This lunch was totally worth the wait. It would be nice to have a nap post this, but I had to move. We walked to the backyard, it is one of those places where you would wish you could live there.

We came back from the backyard and geared up. I thanked aunty (Nakul's Mom) for wonderful lunch. Nakul was to accompany me till the midway, We both set out through the same roads, it was an hour and half before sunset. While crossing one of the bridge, we stopped for a traditional "bridge photograph" over the bridge. Post that we went below the bridge on a small trail, clicked some snaps and I soaked in the beauty around. This day had already given me so much for my eyes and experience and there was more ahead. We left from the place, after some time I had to say adis to Nakul ( again, thanks to Kudremukh G2G ride for allowing me to meet such great people, and big thanks to Nakul).

I was on my own again. The road ahead was about to pass through Kochi and many small towns, so no country side. Nothing to bother though, the traffic was mild for a big city and I could see the sun set on one side of the road. After the sunset, I remembered that I had to reach Allepy and find a place there. I got a lil worried about it, at the same time I thought, It was a beach and one of the favorite destinations in kerala, it cant be difficult. Throughout my ride in kerala I was seeing these red flags around. It was already 7:30pm till I reach Allepy. Before entering the place, I came across a whole battalion of police guarding the roads, I wondered what is going on. To my surprise, the street was packed with people, people wearing red, men in red lungi and white shirt, women wearing red saree, boys wearing red shirt with khaki pants and khaki che berets, girls on white chudi with red vodni. The party name was CPI(M) and there were CheGuevara pictures all around. People here were very agitated and hooting something in Malayalam. I was making my way through this crowd in unknown direction, I was super tensed here. I checked couple of hotels and they were full. These people had arrived on 100's of buses from different villages around.
For a moment I made up my mind to get out of the place. I thought of giving a last attempt and to my luck found a room vacant in one of the below average hotels. here I did not bargain, He asked for Rs800 and I said ok. I settled my luggage, went out and had dinner at some restaurant near by.

Not such a good ending to one of the remarkable day, but all of that is just part of the trip. I lied down in my hotel room and passed out while watching a movie on my phone. Since this was an annual event of that political party, it was to be held for next 3 days. I decided to wake up early and get out of the place. And I did.

Boy, Pace at which I am writing this log......

    Day 3 - Alappuzha - Paravur lake - Varkala(cliff)

Woke up at 5am and geared up, checked out of hotel by 6am. The plan was to reach Kanyakumari by 12 and then wander. Kick started the bike and was cruising slowly along the coast line with previous day flashing back.

I had big expectations from Allapey and all of that went puff in the air. I thought I will move on, there is lot more to come. Some time later I was on NH47 and traffic was crazy here. Kids on the way to school walking besides the roads and trucks passing scarily close to them. This highway goes through infinite villages and towns, hence the traffic. I stopped at one road side shack for tea and evaluated the situation, traffic was taking out the fun of riding. I thought to myself, why am I doing this? Its not everyday I get to go on ride like this. My mood took a big U-turn and I decided to take some random right and go till the dead end. I did reach an interesting dead end, it was blue sea ahead with white sand on the beach.

    Some more for viewing Pleasure...

I checked gps about where I was, I was pretty close from Paravur lake. This place was on my list initially but had dropped later. Its funny how the events unfolded and paravur was on my way. Back in good mood I started heading towards paravur lake and while I was at it I would ride on any random roads with only sense of direction. Reaching Kanyakumari was still the plan, just that I was postponing it.
I reached paravur lake on the wrong end, which was not meant for tourers. Good for me, I found myself riding on 1 and half meter wide road with compound walls on both sides. People here were giving me strange looks, I keept movig till I get a sight of water, and I did. I started moving towards it and I reached this amazing peaceful place. I sat here for quite some time watching the lake.

I knew that I would pass through Varkala, since it was a tourist place I thought I'll have some nice breakfast here. It was 9am already, I pointed my gps to Varakala beach and got back on ride. This road was a nice 2 lane road with fresh while lines on both ends, the excitement was back, feeling awesome riding on this road with water on both sides and coconut trees aligned to provide the right amount of shade without blocking the beautiful view of God's own country. On my way, there was a sign board for "cliff" on the right and Varkala on left, I said "Clif it is". I got a weakness for mountains, its just mind soothing to watch things down while you are on the top. Within couple of minutes I reached Varkala Cliff, this place was amazing, Mind = blown. I told Laila, "Look where I got You"

It was hot and I wanted to take off my jacket and maybe get a dip in the sea. I looked towards my right, it looked like a small Goan cliff trails where my bike could go and finding room here would be piece of cake. Instantly plan changed, Kanyakumari tomorrow. I went to find a room, it did not take more than 15mins to find one. And I got the room for Rs400, It was really nice room, most importantly, the bed was neat and inviting. I checked in, parked my bike at a nice place besides my room, put off the luggage and changed to swimming shorts and phew, looking at that bed, I said I'll be back.

Main Laila laila chillaunga, Jacket phadke...

I was hungry already, while walking down the street I could see a restaurant named German Bakery in front of me and the beach on my left. I said to myself, a nice English breakfast before the swim is no harm. I ordered for tuna fish sandwich and Banana lassi, it was yummy and not so pricey considering the standard of the restaurant which was above average. After feasting, I climbed down towards the beach and reserved a best spot for my belongings. Waves here were nice(not too rough not too low), I walked towards the waves and continued my usual fight with the waves (U take me? I take U). I was having too much fun alone, 2 more ladies joined me in the game, these were cute Swedish ones. I quickly linked Swedish house Mafia there and had a conversation going on about Tomorrowland, UMF between the waves, since this game gets tiring soon, I said goodbye to my wave fighting friends and went to my room, I switched on Malayalam Medleys (Thaikkudum Bridge) which I don't understand at all but it was my jam for this ride.

After a nap I went in search of "the Big Apple" restaurant, plan was to have a drink called "Tendulkar's sixer" which was hyped a little bit. I entered this restaurant to find a funny view, there was no customer, I guess it was because it was little early before the sunset and all the waiters were sleeping(literally) and snoring. I moved to another place called "Rock and Roll", this place had a nice view of the sunset from the table.

I had some beer here watching the sunset and listening to good music. I also made friends with a local guy with whom I managed to have a long conversation and get the jokes even though we spoke different languages. His name is Joseph and he works at Rock n Roll, nice guy.

Post sunset this place is full of life. Streets filled with nicely dressed people trying to find a good place for the evening, music everywhere, waiters trying hard to get the customers to their restaurants. While I was at my not so sober walk with a wide smile I heard live rock music going on somewhere, like the voice had casted a spell on me I zombied to the place and took a front seat. This singer was a local Malayali guy, his voice was like Kurt cobain and he was playing all of my favorite rock songs one by one. I had goose bumps when he played "Nothing Else Matters - Metallica" he was so good. So much unrecognized talent in this country, I did my share of applauding to the loudest. This place also served nice coconut rice with Boatman's curry, it was yummz. By the end of the day I was in pendulum state (if you know what I mean). I think I was smiling while sleeping that night, such a happy day...
