    Default Alternative Tyres for Street Triple RS

    Hey All,
    Got a new ST RS . While it comes with amazing supercorsa SPs and offer amazing grip, it still have few concerns as followed;
    1. Being super soft compound, punctures are a more common on Indian Roads.
    2. They wear out really fast. I heard approx 8k kms or so.

    Hence, I was wondering if anyone has tried anything else and can give their views on the alternate tyres .
    I am thinking of Metzeler M7 RR vs Diablo Rosso ..
    My focus is :
    1. Long life (relatively)
    2. Dont want to sacrifice too much on grip. Would want to take it to track once in couple of months or so.

    Thanks in advance for any inputs.

    If you want tires that will work on a track, you're going to end up with soft-compound tires, no way around that. You can get longer-life tires by looking at tires in the "sport-touring" category. In India's climate, even sport-touring tires ought to have more grip than you can use. I have read that Metzeler tires tend to be longer-lived, even for their sportier offerings. As for punctures, the tire compound isn't what prevents that. Even dirt tires will puncture just as easily. It's the tire casing. Softer tires will get tread cuts more easily, but you shouldn't see any higher risk of actual punctures.

    And 8k out of a sport tire is probably about right. The OEM Bridgestone "adventure-touring" tires on my Super10 are supposed to be only good for about 10k-12k, and they're not nearly as soft as the kind of tires you'd get on that Triumph.

    Be aware, as well, that different tires will wear differently. Some manufacturers use multiple compounds for their tires, so the center might be a harder compound than the shoulders of the tire, which can cause the tire to wear more on the sides over time. Others, especially the really sporty ones, are soft all over, so they'll wear out more evenly but faster overall. How the tire wears will affect handling. A multi-compound tire with a hard center strip will develop a triangular profile over time, especially on the front, so the steering will become more abrupt as the tire wears.

    Dude, I am riding a Street Triple S. I am currently on my 3rd tyre.

    In my opinion these are the best tyres.
    1. Diablo Rosso 2 - Best Sports tyre for everyday use.

    2. Michelin pilot Road 4 - longest lasting with Excellent wet grip.

    3. Metzler Roadtech - good grip, good life ... The jack of all.

    I will not advice going for a track/road slicks if you use the bike everyday for commute aswell. The tyres are damn expensive & last hardly 5 -6 K km
