I wrote a very detailed reply but lost it due to net problems. :/

In short, it was about a few minutes, but that should not be a problem for Cbr150r, thanks to DOHC engine you thrash it all day long. Is it the ideal bike for Leh, nah, but is that because it can't pull on slopes, less pulling power, no, it can, but to tap that power the rider needs to rev high, which might be tiring on long trips.

All those people who complain about low pulling power in traffic or anywhere else, they are simply releasing the clutch at low revs, if I need power to surge ahead, I rev it higher while releasing the clutch. I quite honestly don't have to think about it, bike asks for it, I give it. It is about a half a second slower than R15 V2 according to all the magazines that tested it but faster than R15 in reaching hundred, that is because they released the clutch too early. Rev it high during the start while releasing and that difference is reduced, redline it and you will take over R15 in a drag easily.

I have no practical knowledge about the CBR150 but it has liquid cooling and FI and both will be very useful on mountain roads. But the torque figure is an issue IMO. It's not just about the low torque, but the rpm at which it's generated. Revving hard is not something you would want to do on such roads. I think you should look at other options too if effortless touring through the mountains is what you have in mind.

I am from New Delhi and want to buy CBR 150R. I love to ride on Himalayan roads and would also go on long rides to Himachal, Uttarakhand etc on it. I know how capable this machine is but I only doubt its torque on such high altitude places as it has only 12.66 Nm of torque and that too at very high RPM. Is there any CBR 150R rider who has ridden her to Leh or any very high altitude place like Kaza, Sach Pass etc? I want to talk to that rider before buying.

P.S.: I know I am going to get suggestions to go for Duke, Karizma, CBR 250R, Pulsar 200NS or RE Bullet but I am not interested in them all due to some personal reasons. No offence to anybody please as this is just my personal choice.

Mods: I am not sure if this post should be put into this category. Request you to move this to the right category.

    Thanks all.
People have done Leh on scooter and Platina, this is CBR150 .. (just a word of inspiration )

I have no doubts regarding the drag capability of 150R but its the low end torque that concerns me. This is the bike that I want to get but I don't think it will serve my purpose very well. I am looking for a 150R on rent these days as none of my friends has this bike. Will try that on such high altitude or any mountain pass to test.
    Thanks for your response, buddy

Yes, I am also looking towards CBR250R and Karizma ZMR also but 250R is out of my budget and ZMR seems outdated now and a new ZMR is about to reach the roads. Kind of confused now.

Scooters and most of the 100cc bikes have their torque in low RPM range only which is very helpful on such roads. I have a CBF Stunner and have done Sach Pass on it. It's just that how comfortable my bike was while doing that. I know 150R can do this but my only concern is that I don't know how comfortable she would be while doing that and I don't want to spend 1.35 Lacs of money and then regret later. This is the reason I am looking for someone who has really done Leh or any such high altitude ride on his/her 150R. Thanks for your response though
