Default Any CBR 150R that has done Leh or Spiti?

    Hello guys!

I am from New Delhi and want to buy CBR 150R. I love to ride on Himalayan roads and would also go on long rides to Himachal, Uttarakhand etc on it. I know how capable this machine is but I only doubt its torque on such high altitude places as it has only 12.66 Nm of torque and that too at very high RPM. Is there any CBR 150R rider who has ridden her to Leh or any very high altitude place like Kaza, Sach Pass etc? I want to talk to that rider before buying.

P.S.: I know I am going to get suggestions to go for Duke, Karizma, CBR 250R, Pulsar 200NS or RE Bullet but I am not interested in them all due to some personal reasons. No offence to anybody please as this is just my personal choice.

Mods: I am not sure if this post should be put into this category. Request you to move this to the right category.

    Thanks all.

Many 150cc's have done such long rides.. Have read many likes of fz's and others..
Since cbr150 is your choice.. i think its a very capable ride..
I have seen numerous cbr150's in kashmir and they just zoooom past.. You know these kids..
Go ahead and get one for yourself..

    Thanks buddy for your reply.
Well I just doubt its torque. Have you ever seen cbr150 on mighty passes in Jammu and Kashmir? Does it do that with ease?
I am just wondering because currently I ride a Honda CBF Stunner which has torque of 11 Nm whereas the baby CBR has 12.66 Nm torque and I have seen my Stunner struggling at some very high altitudes like high mountain passes. Although there is a huge difference in the horse power of both the machines but will the increase of just 1.66 Nm torque make that much difference?

    Thanks again

I felt the CBR150's torque/gearing to be so annoying, say I had to shift to 1st gear on entering a main road from a small pocket road.
It doesn't like low revs at all.

I think a cb150r can do it..but you will find it annoying having to struggle to stay in powerband always..
Are there any sprocketing options ?
A shorter gearing mod would be a boon in your case...!

Well i haven't seen then in the highway passes/curves, but surely many in the city area..
but even then, i think it can do the needful for you and won't give you much problem..
You can do one thing, if by any chance any of your friends have the baby cbr, test ride if to any nearby hill station.. That would clear it all out for you..

    Ride safe and have fun.

Thank you all for your replies.
@nadz11.ns: Thanks again buddy. Actually, I don't have any friend who has Cbr150r otherwise I would have already tried it :P

I would like to wait for someone's comment too who has done it on his Cbr150r to Leh or such high altitude places. I would also discuss this with Honda and see if they have got any option for me in this and will update here.

    Thanks again.

Yes buddy, that's my major concern. But that's the only bike which has my heart. Don't know what's so special in it :P
But in the end, I don't want to buy it and regret later. Kind of confused now...

Thanks buddy for your reply. Well, I don't want to do any kind of mods to her like sprocketing and also, not sure if any such solution is available for her. Although, I have done this in my Stunner right now to make the gear ratios a bit longer. Better suited for highway riding.

I don't know if my reply serves any purpose, but anyways, I bought a cbr150r and was giving a test drive to my a friend who weighs over a hundred kgs, and we had to up on 30 degree slope, I myself weigh more than 70, the bike did fine, the only thing is, you need to rev it. That means more wrist work, nothing else, if you feel you have endurance and your wrists can take that, I don't think it should give you any problems.

Thanks Akash for your reply. What was the duration of that 30 degree slope? In most of my rides to Himalayas, I have to ride uphill for couple of hours continuously.
    Thanks again
