    Icon5 Apache or Xtreme

    Hi All...

I am 5 ft 10" , 80 kgs in Bangalore, office going guy.
I will be driving mostly in City Traffic and trips on some weekends.
I test drove Apache 160 today. Liked the control.

I am new to biking, kindly tell which one should I take.
Apache 160 with double disc or wait for the upcoming Xtreme sports.
If Apache, then should it be 160 or 180. My father asked to take a bike with better mileage.

    Opinions please.

The language he has used in the post clearly depicts he needs a low maintenance mileage based bike ( interpretation from philosophical point of view) .which apache 160 won't be

so how you know, when a person needs high maintance/ low milage bike?
BTW, the milage of RTR is around 46-48kmpl, which is by no means low. And my RTR 180 is 53K kms old. Milege around 42 kmpl. Talking about high maintainance, the only major expense was, getting the head cleaned at 45k kms(1500/-). Chain sprocket, brake pads changed twice. Clutch plate still stock.

I had an xtreme (sold now) - extremely dependable bike ,tourer friendly -I owned it when Hero and Honda were together .
My dad still uses another xtreme in my native and swears for its comfort.
I stay in Bangalore as well and haven't found a single good Hero SVC . Xtreme has the bullet proof engine and may well be called the 'national 150 cc engine' now that is used in so many models from Ambition to Trigger. Kmpl would be around 40-50 according to your riding style.

I never had Apache nor have much experience with it but my wife owns a TVS Scooty for which I take care of the service and I would recommend the SVC (Neo TVS) over any Hero SVC here.
And the SVC experience changes a lot of things for the end customer AFAIK. If I were you I would go for TVS 180 ABS simply because of ABS.

    Just my honest,unbiased opinion ...

As I know the conditions of Bangalore traffic, Apache suits you better IMO. . . It's got good power, handling and performs well and is one of the best bikes for city riding. . . I would say anyday Apache over Xtreme sports as I haven't rode the latter. . . Apache is quick, light and good performer overall. . . Now coming to which Apache, I think you should opt for RTR180, I ride my cousin's 180 and really impressed with it, . . One thing you got to make a change is exchange the tires as they are the worst on a beautiful bike like that. . . Rest all, it's a wonderful machine. . .

    Cheers!!!

@shadowgun , @sambit .. Sorry, just came from office and saw these posts. And yes, I aimed at Gixxer but I am getting taunted by my friends who already got bikes even thou I had planned to get one before them.

As far as I know, RTR160 may give around 43-46 kpl and CBZ between 45-50.
Apache offers bit more power for city riding whereas CBZ gives comfort. I am not sure about how reliable is Apache after 3 years of use. And RTR180 will give around 40 kpl, nothing more than that.

And many people said buy RTR over CBZ because its not at all boring to drive and good for city drive.
I am not inclined towards FZ or Pulsar. Previously I thought of buying GS150 but saw Gixxer is coming few months later.
