Default Help me choose between Duke 200 and Yamaha R14

I'm a proud P180 UG4 owner. Bought my bike almost 4 years back and now i have decided to upgrade my ride. (Bought P180 after posting a query in xbhp and i have never regretted buying a pulsar though i was more inclined towards Karizma that time )

I'm 5'10 tall and i have to make a choice in between Yamaha R15 and KTM Duke 200. I loved both the bikes. But driving R15 for just 20kms gave me pain on my wrist!! Is that cos i'm new in driving R15 or people will get used to that pain after driving for some time? Duke is awesome. I really liked it a lot. Nice handling and brakes and the sound is too sexy. But when it comes to style, R15 steals the show. I'm not a heavy rider or anything. I'm shifting to Bangalore looking for a job. So i will be using my bike to roam around, and once i find a job, to commute to office daily.

So what do you people think?? Should i go with Duke or R15?? And can anyone tell me the On-Road price for both the bikes in Kerala? And what's the mileage for both the bikes??

And one more thing, i have covered just 16k kilometer's in my 4 year old pulsar. It's a well maintained bike and how much can i demand for my bike? People say Bajaj bikes got no resale value and blah blah. But i dont have any idea how much should i charge for my bike.

    1. For short city rides, go for Duke. It is much more easy to ride in city conditions. As for wrist pain on R15, with more riding time, you would get used to the stance and it will be all fun.

    2. We 'RIDE' a motorcycle, not 'DRIVE'

    3. @The Monk.. Correct the thread title. Its R14 there.

You can go for Duke if, you have to commute a lot in the city. Plus it has more power.

R15 is also good. Yes the wrist would be there for few kms, but then you would get used to. But if you would be commuting with a pillion strike this option out except your gf would be the pillion.

You can also look at CBR 150 R, also look at Pulsar 200 NS, its the awesome bang for the buck. Plus you can buy good riding gear for the rest money

I give you some point ...in simple lines...
1.if u r looking for stylish bike and relability and handling than u should pick r15...but the pillion seat is not practical..
2.duke is good if u want pickup and pillion seat is very good as compared to yamaha r15.fun to ride in the city.
3.if u want to save money(rs 50000). and want as good as near duke performance than u should pick up pulsar 200ns.
4.ktm duke rc200 faired bikes coming next 3-4 months

Avg mileage duke: 35, R15: 38.A 5'10'' guy will never find R15 comfortable; the wrist pain will always be there. Even Duke has a aggressive stance, but among the two I think Duke would be a better option for you. KTM RC200 is going to be launched soon, and you can wait for it, since it will look better with its fairings. And why don't you go for pUlsar200 ns? Its pretty smooth and fast. The sitting stance would be more comfortable than duke.

What made you say the bold part ?
I am 5'10" and have absolutely no problem riding R15. Its the matter of getting used to and keeping a correct riding stance (with proper weight distribution).
Also, the Avg. Mileage of R15 is +40km/L (unless the rider is always red-lining the bike)

Thank you guy's for your comments.

I used a pulsar all these years. So i don't want to stick with another pulsar . Plus,i could rarely spot a Pulsar NS here. So i thought it's a flop.

I never considered CBR150!!Will check the reviews now. Is it going to cost more than 1.5lakh? My budget is 1.5lakh

Is it really possible to get 40+ mileage in R15?

Please, if you are looking for mileage then go for a Discover 150 or any other mileage 150 cc and compromise with power.

But if you want power, then buy any 1 lakh+ bike and expect a mileage of 32 - 40 only. These engines are not made for extracting mileage.
