Cool Is CBR150 worth for 40k extra? over pulsar220

    Hi,
My previous bike was Yamaha Fzs.Reason to compare with 220 is comfort for pillion and rider in a faired bike.
    One line question,
"Will you shell 40K extra for cbr150r?"

    Detailed:
The primary usages will be office commutes forming a 30Km drive in city and occasional (monthly twice) out of city rides (<150kms roundtrip).
I am a careful rider and take care of bikes nicely.

    My requirements:
1.Comfort (also pillion) -main reason to knock r15 out after booking
2.Troublefree for few years atleast - yes honda is gud but does the premium (+40k) justify for cbr.
3.Lesser vibrations at around 100kmph - I dont do top speeds but like to cruise without fatigue.
4.Maintenance cost- I can shell out few bucks for maintenance but it must make sense for the durability/reliability and the cost i paid earlier (typical indian mind).

My budget is <1.5L i dont find any other options.
No cbr250 for mileage and cost(40K more than 150)
No karizmas for pathetic looks of 2014 model.
No pulsar220 since it is Bajaj pulsar.

    Is there any options?
Is the 40k worth to pay for cbr now or wait for 2015 models in march/april from other manufacturers.

    Query Approved

You have written off pretty much everything. No bike is perfect. If you believe the CBR 150 is ideal for your requirements, then it is pointless comparing it to the Pulsar 220.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I just wanted to give one piece of info is that there is very less low end torque in low RPM's, hence in traffic with or without pillion its pain, you going to change gear lot, its real fun begins after 6000RPM in high speed, its kinda a race breed, a small revv happy engine in its class, it does corner better than P220.

You almost everything knows about P220, its good for city, highway long rides are fun with pillion. your dilemma is pillion comfort otherwise R15 would be a better buy may be over CBR.
Lastly ride both of them back to back in city traffic with pillion, you will feel the difference of low end torque, it will help to decide whether can you compromise in city traffic over weekend fun or not

    Ride safe.

Well, if your heart says it's 150R, go for it. P220 and CBR150R are two different beasts in two different categories. The competitor of 150R is R15, so comparing that with R15, we can safely say it's like 20K more which makes it bit overpriced. But yes, against that 20K you will get a comparatively comfortable pillion seat and a bit comfortable seating position. It's in no sense a bad buy, seen many happy owners of 150R.

While CBR150R is great product, it does not suit your needs. The low end torque in the 150R is pathetic. Like some one else mentioned here, the power really comes after midrange. I would suggest you against CBR 150R considering your primary commuting needs. I think P220, Karizma or the 200NS will be good contenders. P220 is an all rounder, will do everything decently. Karizma, well I agreee the looks are very bad but ZMR looks better than ZMA. Both Karizmas have excellent low end torque for city riding and needless to say about touring capabilities. ZMR will give you excellent fuel efficiency figures even in city. Pillion comfort is good both on P220 and Karizma. 200NS though doesn't have low end torque like the P220 or Karizma, is much better than the CBR150R. Should do well for city commutes and does well on highways too. Pillion comfort on NS is decent.

PS: Moving from FZ to P220 will be slightly difficult initially considering P220 is front heavy compared to FZ. But in time you shall get used to it.

No ,buy r15 for that smoothness and 200ns if short on money+wanna be fast +a little bit lower smoothness than japs.

Practically- A big NO. Start with the comparison of Plastic Quality of switch gear, you will know. I would any day prefer a P220 over CBR 150. At your Budget, R15 would be the best bet, but as you need pillion comfort, NS would come to your rescue. Yes, Yamaha gives the best quality, which ages very well, but low Maintenance cost of 200NS will save you. Dont Worry about those things. Befriend a good Mech, problem solved.
My 5 years old RTR is still all stock and running like charm, while in CBR, certain niggle pops up here and there. Its solely due to the useless/ ignorant Mechanics at Honda ASC.

If it were a R15, I would have suggested you to go for it. Yes, a R15 is worth paying 1.3 lakhs. The quality, the smoothness, the niggle free ownership justifies the premium price tag. I myself bought it over a pulsar and am more than happy about my decision.

But a CBR 150 is not worth the money. Right from the quality of the plastics - to the build quality. Switch gear are same as my 18 year old splendor, indicators are from shine, the plastic quality is not top notch. you pay a heavy price for a bike and everything on it is taken straight from other bikes, shows how dedicated they were in designing a new bike. the only upside is the pillion seat, which is low compared to a R15 but not as low as you might think. I took my parents to both the showrooms(honda and yamaha) and my mom sat with me for the test rides, there was not much difference between the two. Yes the CBR pillion seat was lower but not by much. So i bought a R15.

Then comes the low end torque, which I think is not a big deal if you dont mind shifting gears in the traffic, its not that bad.

The engine on CBR is as usual a honda gem. And it is a niggle free machine.

Bro!! I too was no with the p220 since it is a bajaj. But recently took a drive on new 2014 p220 and its really smooth. The have updated it very well.

I suggest you take a drive on the new p220. I too am a tourer and not a top speed freak. So now that they have made the right tweaks with the bike, the p220 has become a perfect bike for our requirement. Just ride and feel it.
