    Query Approved

You have rather limited options i believe. The 200AS and Apache 200 would be the only bikes which fulfill your criteria.

If you can wait till April for the bike delivery, Apache 2004V, if cant wait for it, R15S.
If you can extend your amount by another 20%, D200 will be under your grabs.

I love the AS200 but i think its engine is too complicated .3 spark plugs ,4 valves but only single cam ,max power-torque @ very higher rpm which increases wear & tear & lastly its bajaj so cant expect a trouble free ownership .

Upgrading from a pulsar 220, I don't think apache 200 would be great choice after going through the first impression reviews in the forum and the spec sheet.
The pulsar 220, though trivial, produces more torque and power than the new apache at the same rpm levels and both the bikes weighs just about the same with pulsar weighing just 2 Kgs more.

And I am not sure if even TVS could give you a trouble free ownership. Especially with the kind of service centres they have. But then, apache 200 is thought to be a long tested bike from TVS and is expected to be having very less niggles.
And I think your budjet won't be even enough to buy the top spec'ed apache as it might cost around 1.3+ lac on road. Maybe you can cut abs and fi. Most reviews suggest it is much refined compared to old apache's, it has to be seen to what levels has it been refined. At this point, we cant say if it is comparable to newer gen pulsars or japanese bikes or somewhere in between.

And also TVS is taking their own sweet time is releasing this bike.

Coming to ur criteria again, with that amount of money, you are left with As 200, which I think you don't prefer. Then, there is avenger series from bajaj, the street 220 looks gorgeous and the reviews suggest it is a very smooth vehicle. The avengers should come within your budget.

I don't think any Japanese Manufacturer comes with a more powerful bike than 220 at that price point. If you can increase your budget a little, there are a lot of options, I would suggest you D200.

The Auto expo is around the corner, someone might come up with a bike that fits your bill. I suggest you wait till then.

With that kind of budget for an upgrade, I wouldnt have sold the P220 in the first place. If you want a more powerful bike you will have to increase your budget to around 2lakhs

There is no replacement for displacement. Going from a 220 to a 200 is pointless

But sir, the pulsar 220 is an old bike, there are a lot of 200s which give much superior performance compared to pulsar 220. Such as the likes of the Rs200, duke 200, 200ns, As200 to name a few. Just that it comes at a higher price point. So I don't think it is pointless to go from 220 to 200.

220 gives ~21bhp. The 200cc bikes you mentioned give around ~24bhp. The price difference does not justify the power increase. So its feasible to put in some more money and go for a higher displacement and/ power output bike.

Now we dont know which year 220 he rode or for how much he sold it. These things are important when considering on getting a new bike

The "price difference-justification" that you are talking about depends on which particular bike we are looking into, right?. If we are looking at VFM, coming from same manufacturer and same series, the price bumb of just 5k of as200 over Pulsar 220 is justifiable I feel, given the performance upgrade(add to it, the improvement in refinement levels, handling and quality, it is so much better still) So if the person has only that much amount of money to shell out, then going for as200 after p220 is money well spent, I feel. If we look into the post of thread starter, he only needs a bike as powerful as p220, not really a 300 or above cc bike, neither does he say he has the budget.

Again, it all depends the person who wants it, the person here has a budget of 1.2 lac. Maybe someone else in this situation, would have been ready to spend a 2lac+ rupees and buy a higher displacement bike, but the person here is not looking for that, that doesn't mean it is pointless to go for a bike at the given price point or 200cc itself, even if we are looking at VFM. Cheers.
