Default Confused between TVS Apache RTR 200 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200

I am planning to buy a new bike. Confused between TVS Apache RTR 200 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. My commute is restricted to city only, around 50km daily.
Which one should I buy considering mileage and long-term durability, servicing costs, maintenance, etc.

Both are extremely good bikes .
    Pulsar 200NS
    1.cheap spare parts
    2.long time tested bike
    3.beats Apache in performance
    4.looks really good
    5.ABS version already available

    Cons
1.Service centre are the worst ever
2.there are few people with complaints about the bike .
    3.priced slightly more than Apache.

    Apache RTR 200
    Pros
    1.time tested bike
    2.looks good ( subjective)
    3.FI variant available .
4.better options than NS - tyres ,FI engine etc .
5.service seems to be better than Bajaj ( check RTR thread once ).
    Cons
1.only FI variant comes close to matching power of NS200
2.FI variant costs as much as NS200
3.carb version is not as good as NS200 in performance
4.there are few complaints regarding the bike
    5. ABS version launch is still not clear , not available in many showrooms .

    PS - I own a 2017 NOV NS200 non ABS version .
I went through the same dilemma .

Please DO TEST DRIVE before you decide it's the most crucial thing to make a decision.

    Hope this helps !

IMHO, TVS is solid engineering and Bajaj bikes are often loaded with features and VFM during original purchase. One distinct advantage of NS200 would be 6th gear that RTR200 does not have. Since OP is in Bangalore, getting RTR with ABS shouldn't be a problem. It should be available imediately or withing couple of weeks or so.

I think you should consider two aspects here -

    1. Comfortable ride in city - which one you find more comfortable for your physique and riding style.
    2. ASS in your city, I think TVS might be better.

How about the city mileage for both the bikes. This is also a consideration as I'll be riding 50km daily.

200 cc bikes give you an average of 35 KMPL within city not more than that . If your looking for mileage better go for 160cc bikes like NS160,gixer etc

    RTR200- for more city oriented
    NS200-for more highway run.
IMO, the decision should be quite easy, since both the machines have different characteristic.
For your requirement RTR200 is the best option.
For city usage it is really good with good low end torque. RTR handles really well, has the quickest directional change in its segment and more premium.
NS200, if you hit highways often. Among carb versions, NS200 will have better mileage but not by huge margin.

    Hi,

    My 2 cents:

Have driven both NS and RTR of friends's, both non-ABS standard versions.
My observations were very similar to AbhijithPReddy's.
    Plus following -
Not all Service centers are bad, not all mechanics are bad (for both BAJAJ as well as TVS)
RTR handles very well in sharp turns and cuts as compared to NS200 (the TVS has a shorter wheelbase i guess)
and most significant observation - RTR200 BRAKES MUCH BETTER THAN THE NS200!

    Cheers!

Now the Apache also offers a slipper clutch, I don't know if that will make the decision any easy but will surely give you additional bragging rights.
