Question Honda Shine or Honda Aviator

    Hello everyone,

I am new to xBHP. I am looking for help in choosing between the Honda Aviator and the Shine.

First off, this is how I will be using the bike:
I commute to office daily by bike. One way distance is 27km. So total commute is 54km. The commute is through Pune city roads. Part of the route is smooth roads, part bumpy roads.

I know the Aviator has a better front suspension and bigger front tyre than other scooters. Is this enough to provide a comfortable ride over long distances?

I know that the Shine will definitely be comfortable for this kind of a long ride, but the question is, will the Aviator be good enough? The reason I am thinking of Aviator is because its an automatic and very hassle free to drive.

Fatigue free, comfortable ride is what I want. Can the Aviator serve this purpose, or would it be wise to go with the Shine?

Thanking all you xBHPians in advance for your responses.

Thanks for the quick approval Aryan.

It would also be nice if existing Shine or Aviator owners could share their experience with me, if they are using their bike for this type of long city commute.

Aviator and shine though both belongs to the same manufacturer ---- both are entirely different Segments......

Aviator ---- Its a Scooter 100cc....Suitable for those who doesnt know to ride Gear bikes.....Suitable for Heavy Trafficated Areas since its gearless ....Luggage holding capacity....Everyone can ride in the family

Shine ------ Its a Bike 125cc.... Suitable for those office goears who want style and conmfort and yes Mileage ....Also suitable for Trafficated areas....cannot carry Luggages in it unless u have a Seperate Side Box or Tank Cover.....

It depends upon your choice .... but yes there is a soft corner for u on Aviator since u wanna travel more ---- it will be helpful for u to carry ur bag in it ...... and easy to ride.....
    .......Just a Biker.......

I do understand that Shine and Aviator are 2 completely different categories of bikes. Just as well, they have different advantages.

I will not need to carry any luggage, just a shoulder bag. And I will be using the bike only for office commute, not as family vehicle.

The only reason I was thinking of Aviator is bcoz its an automatic. But the question is, since its a scooter, would it be uncomfortable for this type of long ride? The traffic in my route is not too heavy. I keep moving at 30-50 kph range. One way drive is around 50 minutes. So comfort in sitting posture, suspension, and avoidance of fatigue are of utmost importance to me.

On a scooter you would feel more fatigue-d than on a bike...on a 27 km distance

Added to that, the fact that though aviator comes loaded with telescopic front shockups, theres a very limited distance which they can travel.

Add to that, the sluggishness (comparatively) of aviator would add to more fatigue

Add to that the yawning milege difrence between these two

I, own a dio and get paltry milege of 30-33kmpls..

If fortune favors you, you can expect a milege of 35+ on it
    compared to shines 60+
Its almost double the ownership cost...!

If at all you are very serious about a scooter, than try the suzuki access
Its a better scooter in India...!

I think you mis-read my post. I wrote that traffic is not too heavy.

I hear from friends that scooter can cause back/shoulder pains if used for long distance commuting. My experience with Dio is not good for long rides. Its painful. So I wanted opinions of xBHPians on Aviator. I dont mind riding a geared bike. But if both Shine and Aviator can provide equal amount of comfort, then I would prefer Aviator as its gearless.

It would be great if someone who is using Shine or Aviator currently for this type of long commute can share their experience with me.
