Icon14 Four wheels drive the body Two wheels drive the soul

    This is how it works

It's said that things which we are not capable of are the things we love the most. I love planning. I don't remember when was the last time I succeeded doing the said though. I remember spending 5 hours near my car along with friends trying to decide which restaurant to go for dinner and ended up having at home.

While having a cup of coffee at Coffee day, decided to visit a fort in Hyderabad (it was raining cats and dogs); while sitting idle, decided to go to Bidar, KA, the next morning; while having dinner, decided to go to Ooty the next morning; while preparing for the last exam, decided to go to Coorg the next morning and so on and so forth. The only part which was missed in all the trips was proper planning and that added extra fun.

This is how it all started

I rode my first two wheeler at the age of 13. It was a Luna. Did all kinds of stunts on it. Loved it to the core. Then was Yamaha RX 100 followed by Chetak, Splendor, CBZ, Suziki Samurai (I somehow loved it the most, of all my rides), Pulsar 150, Avenger and now Royal Enfield Classic Chrome Black 500.

Riding a bike have always been a passion rather than means of commutation. Have done most of my trips on a bike. But this was past (student life). For over 3 years, I didn't touch a bike. Until one day the passion hidden in my subconscious mind was tickled by one of my friends ownership thread on a different forum and right away decided to book RE Classic Chrome 500. I was so moved that I didn't see the bike physically. Saw it in the pics and booked it. It's one of those moments where your cerebellum stops responding and you go into trans. I just wanted to own the thing which I was staring at.

Royal Enfield Chrome Black 500 CC - Chrome Decimator

After a month of wait period, the Chrome Decimator (that's what I named it) thumps to it's true home. Initial few days of riding severely hurt my palms, back, bottom and few other parts of my body. There were too many vibrations, gears were hard and other normal stuff like silencer bend pipe turned golden etc.

After two months of riding it, on and off, completed 500 KM and first service. All the earlier issues were let go giving space to the new comers ( new issues). But I didn't repent as I knew that Rust and other issues are the freebies that come along with RE. Having said that, I love my bike. It's a sweetheart.

    Safety is integrity

Helmet- Centurion - Royal Enfield Helmets OR Brodie - Royal Enfield Helmets. The latter does not have a visor or chin guard; I'm a little reluctant.

Pants: Explorer - Royal Enfield Trousers. These are kind of heavy, but I some how felt they are sturdy.

Boots: Short Riding Boots - Royal Enfield Boots. OMG!!! I could easily work in a coal mine with these things on. Tough like a rock. The inner soul is little less comfortable. Lets see how it goes.

Gloves: Not sure which ones. I need a pair for rainy season.

    Inventory

Boot Covers: Boot Cover - Royal Enfield Boots. Instant love. Didn't use them yet.
Pair of Gloves- Some cheap ones off ebay.
Elbow and Knee guards: Motorcycle Stainless Steel Racing Rider Elbow Knee Pads Armor Protective Guard | eBay. Ordered these. Still didn't receive them.
Jacket: I have a leather jacket which I brought back from USA. Bought one here in India for the rainy season. Both would not save me during a crash or a fall.

That's it and I'll be all set until I think of adding something else to the list which I would eventually.

Thanks to the mods for accepting my membership request. Thanks in advance for all the fellow members for the extended support .

P.S: The tile of this thread is a tag line that I read somewhere. Not my creation.
P.P.S: Would post the images of the Decimator and accessories in my ownership thread.

    Welcome.
Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

@Xydon : first of, liked that name u call ur ride by ;-)
secondly, dont go in for any cheap gloves on ebay - pls get something that will protect ur skin & bones in case of a fall.
and oh yes... i love to see fotos of bullets... pls do post some soon.
besides the point, the thread title posted, has been the alma matter of my perception towards riding for last several decades & no, neither i have created it... the creator of this line is perhaps an incognito :P
last but not the least... welcome to the insane forum ;-)
