i all,
I've been a spectator for long long time (from 06 when the 2 stroke bug bit me )watching everything that was happening here. Was just too lazy to signup, wait for approval blah! blah!; I think i did once , but never got the mod's approval. Never bothered again until I decided to get my own (as in buying myself) bike.
About Meself
I've been riding bikes only after I joined college. been 5yrs since. and have had (not owned) lots of bikes.
I Started off on a fiero f2; graduated to a 180 classic & rode a machismo in parallel. (Special edition- the owner told me; probably true coz it had larger front drums and heavy crank with a dead battery and free flow exhaust. The bike would start in the first crank (no kicking) and first crank. only way to start it otherwise was to roll it down an incline. i've lots of memories with that bike. It commanded great respect just to be able to start it).
Then the 2 stroke craze came on and my brother picked up a RX 135 tiger (The cheapest version with black paint instead of chrome in most places).
And then my best friend bought a new 150 ug2- A very practical bike with good mileage. It was my daily ride for the next 2 years while the bullet and rx were some kind of a luxury (I was in hostel at the time and daily rides were to the hotels for lunch and buying stuff for the project, bunking classes going for treats and joyrides etc etc ). The pulsar guy was a dayscholar and we (all non bikeowners in the hostel ) used to beg, borrow and occasionally steal rides from the bike owners (All sorts of bikes from rx100 - splendor- bullet-zma-pulsars)there.
Then college life ran out & I missed out everything except my frnd's 150 and bro's 135. Then as luck would have it, I spotted my uncle's 180ug2 rusting away. It had hardly run 15k in2 yrs. He was a total bike freak (read loves rx and hate bullet)and mechanic in his time and liked the pulsar and it's tech over the competition then. I piked it up and spent(uncle spent) 10k at the bajaj service centre and got all rusting and prone to rust parts replaced and voila, I get my next bike. It was like this for the next 1 yr ie, untill now.
I got a job in trivandrum. 200 km (close to 220 on the odo) by road from my hometown Cochin. I brought the bike here (I'm now in office ) about 6 months ago and was having a hell of a time with it.
My driving style
Rt from the beginning I took a liking for bikes with the rev counter (I later learned that it was called the tacho. ) I was (still am) a total redline freak. I can do very well on a PAPB bike without any battery, horn, indicators, console any one brake and any etc without complaints. but anyday, I'd prefer a tacho, front disk and indicators (working).
So now ,
I had to give my uncle his bike back.
So was looking to buy bike for myself.
I wanted a bike in which I'd be a lot more involved.
New bikes were a big no(altogether different reasons)
so candidates were rx100,135, shogun, yezdi or bullet.
Being the first one for me to work on, I focused on the rx100 as parts are still available (135 spares are not!). I always wanted an enfield and there is an 85 model for grabs at 30k! still I chose not to go for it.
thus began my hunt (more like my bro's hunt as I have no transport and very little contacts here ).
I'm picking up a 90' model rx 100 !
will get to see it only next week.
All about it, i'll post in a new thread
So It's time for me to take the plunge and i've registered and that's just about it
P.S. I didn't go thru forum posting rules. I'm so familiar with the forum that i didn't feel like doing so. Maybe if there's something seriously wrong, gimme a pointer and i'll do my homework
Thx mates
cheers
